- Here’s the Mission. Your Mission Is to Burn the Elf Village and Eliminate the Terrorist Leader, Sylphina Bloommarin
- Chapter 9 - I am going to get back what I left behind 500 years ago.
A battle 500 years ago.
The battle to seal the Demon King that the young Sylphy experienced.
At the end of the battle, there was this man who sealed the Demon King in exchange for his own life.
He is called “brave” in this context.
Anyway, what was the commander thinking when he gave me the code name ‘brave hero’?
What was the reason why he wanted to bring me closer to this brave man named George?
“So that’s what you mean when you say you’re going to the land of orcs.’
“I’m going to get back what I left behind 500 years ago. I’m going to the old demon king’s territory.”
“Will the Demon King ever come back?”
The scale of the story is so large that it is hard to imagine what is left and what is not.
“Probably not. The demon king’s body is only that of an orc.
It has the same lifespan as a human.”
“… your magic power is that of an elf, so you have some left.”
Sylphy nods to my words.
….I don’t understand the feeling of the long-lived at all, you know.
“Hey, Sylphy, so what’s your reason for going through the dwarf country?”
“Magic armor. Orc country is not a safe place.
I am sure there are many Orcs who don’t like me. I need power.”
The magic armor… is a weapon used by the dwarf army.
We know that the imperial army is struggling a lot.
“Well, now that I’ve met you, I may not have to.
But I’ve already commissioned you. I’ve already paid you upfront.”
“So we’re going through the dwarf country to orc country. And beyond that…”
…kill the machine emperor.
We didn’t say so, but we both knew it without communication.
Now I understood her intentions for the trip.
…If my memory comes back, what will I think of it then?
If I could, I wish I was a prisoner in a human country. I don’t want to become enemies with Sylphy.
“…only that I plan to stop in one of the larger cities before heading to the dwarf country.”
“What can I do for you?”
“Your body. I can’t let you go so long without seeing a doctor.”
…… Ha, are you changing the route for someone like me?
“Is that necessary? I do a health check before every mission, I guess.”
“Oh? So you have the memory of it? Brave man.”
“I don’t have any memory… I only have information that they generally do that.”
Sylphy nodded after hearing my answer.
“That’s what I mean. Even for the sake of it, they’re messing with your memory, aren’t they?
You should worry a little bit about your own body.
If it is true, you might be able to see a doctor here in town.”
It’s a perfectly valid argument.
“Unless we’re chased by sword saints.”
“Yeah, they’re going to be sending a search to the city down river soon.
At the very least, we’ll have to move from here to talk to them.”
In other words, we are going to go through the big cities in the land of men to the land of dwarves and the land of orcs.
After that, we will sneak into the machine empire and aim for the emperor’s life.
If my memory comes back to me, I will have to change my mind about whether or not to go along with her depending on the content.
“Well, John, let’s find a carriage.
You may be a little sleep-deprived, but you can sleep in the carriage.”
“I’m sorry you had to go through all that.”
Sylphy answers that she doesn’t mind, pays for the breakfast, and walks through town.
The destination would be the train station. Hopefully we can catch a good carriage.
“Hmmm, in a town this size it’s hard to catch a carriage without a reservation……”
Sylphy checked the station to see if there were any private carriages available, but apparently, there are none right now. There seemed to be a shared carriage, but that would make Sylphy stand out and increase the number of people who would be involved in case she was chased by the sword saint.
“Do you want to go by foot…..? Sylphy.”
“Mmh….. might be a good idea. If we change cities, we could pick up a carriage.”
Just when we were talking…
The horses roared and a carriage arrived at the station.
“Sorry to be rough, but you’re right on time. You made it in time.”
“Thank you! Now I’ll be on time for my daughter’s wedding!”
“I got my fee. Now all that’s left is your feet. Run along…”
After seeing the guests, the master descends to the ground and strokes the horse’s mane.
“You did a great job. You’re the best.”
“Neigh.”
I could tell without a doubt that he was an excellent master.
However, I thought it would be difficult to talk to him after he had finished his work.
But when I looked to the side, Sylphy was already on her feet.
“Hey, hey, what do you think you’re doing? Elf girl!
Suddenly throwing 3 gold coins.”
“What, we’re at the station now, but we were thinking of going by foot.”
The master laughs when he hears Sylphy’s words.
“Ha ha, you want to hire me. But this is a little overpayment, don’t you think?”
“No, consider it a tribute to your skills and an apology for the short notice.”
“…… I see. Is the guy next door your friend?”
He looks at me.
“Oh, for two. Is that not enough?”
“No, that’s too much. It’s still too much.”
The master urges him to get into the carriage.
“I’d like to go to the nearest big city around here, somewhere with a good hospital.”
“That would be the trading city of Addingiru. We can get there by evening.
But it will be a long trip. We’ll need a little time to get the horses watered.”
Sylphy nods at his words.
“That’s all well and good, but we’ve got to move a little faster. We’re being chased by some very nasty people.”
“Hey, hey, tell me that first:”
“…Do I have to charge you extra for this?”
“No, you’re overcharging me, I’d give you five rides for that.”
The owner took his horse and left.
We are allowed to wait here.
“It was a great encounter, John. We’re in luck.”
“……, but I didn’t expect to go on a ride on such short notice.”
“Well, thanks for being such a good-spirited fellow.”
I wonder if it was just a flirt. That gold coin-throwing thing.
“Well, John, I look forward to working with you for the next few months.”
