- Chapter 14 - I repeat. This church hospital was taken over by us, the anti-imperialists.
“We have taken over this church hospital!
Don’t even think about resisting. Come to the main hall.
Anyone who hides or resists for more than 10 minutes will be killed without mercy!”
Just once at the moment the mysterious sound entered my ears, and once at the word occupied.
From there, I accelerated my thinking several more times.
First, I searched for the source of the sound and found it was behind a screen attached to the top of the room.
“John! That’s just a speaker, there’s no point in breaking it.”
“I’m sorry. I just had a feeling.”
Unload the integrity that you have pulled out.
It may not be a recording like the one from Waku, but the source of the sound is different.
It is not here. Not sure if there are any enemies around.
“What the hell just happened?”
Right after I asked her, I heard that sound again.
“- I repeat. This church hospital has been taken over by us anti-imperialists.
Do not even think of going outside. All those inside, gather in the main hall.
We will send out a sweep team in 10 minutes. Those who have not moved by then will be killed.”
The anti-imperialists… are they the same kind of people who were demonstrating in front of the Waku earlier?
But occupied? A sweep squad?
“It’s just as you described it over there.
-The anti-imperialists. I knew they had been on the rise recently, but I didn’t expect them to go this far.”
“The same people who were so excited in front of Waku, right?”
Dr. Chloe nods for confirmation.
“Probably the same guys.
I have heard rumors that there are dangerous people behind those guys.
But I never thought they would attack here. The Imperial Army base is so close.”
After saying this, Dr. Chloe opens the curtains.
She opens the window and asks outside.
“….here on the second floor, Doc.”
“It’s only a wound that can heal at this height. We need to get the word out as soon as possible.”
“Priest healing, huh?”
– For a moment, I thought it was a good choice.
There was a good chance that what the enemy was saying was a bluff.
But what is it? It was a premonition.
I had a bad feeling and grabbed the doctor’s arm.
“Don’t leave me, Doc.”
“Mr. John,…. then, would you like to go with me?”
“No, but first…”
He throws the pillow on the bed.
The pillow was thrown in a parabolic pattern and was some distance away from the outer wall of the church hospital when it burst into flames.
“I knew you weren’t bluffing when you said I shouldn’t even think about going out there.”
“I can’t believe they’re using such advanced techniques….”
“You think the priests are involved? Humans, right …?”
The doctor nodded at my words.
“That, too, is a competent man who deserves to be called a magician.
…I underestimated it. I thought the archers were just lying low.”
This doctor was going to push through even if the archers ate her bow?
She’s a hell of a woman.
“-Let’s run away! This way!”
A man was running out of a hospital room on the first floor.
“…. stop! Don’t go on. Turn back!”
The man shouts and runs out without listening.
He set up his integrity, but by then it was already too late.
“Damn…..!”
A man’s scream is heard. Flames are spreading all over his body, and his body is being burned.
The magic formula has been activated.
So it is triggered when you leave the church beyond a certain distance,…
“This is not something that can be done to a hospital or even an empire…”
What to do, what to do in a situation like this?
“…. command, Sylphy !”
I can’t handle it without instructions,…!
“John, there is a change of clothes for male doctors in the back.
Please change and surrender. With the way you’re dressed, you’ll be killed if you just surrender.”
“What are you going to do, doctor …?”
I grab Dr. Chloe’s shoulder as she is leaving the examination room.
She doesn’t look very calm right now. I knew I couldn’t just send her out like this.
I hadn’t come up with any ideas on how to deal with the current situation, but I knew that much.
“I will defeat the adversary on God’s behalf. That is my duty as a priest.
They call themselves anti-imperialists, but they are much worse than that.”
Pride of those who have worked in the church hospitals. The experience that even the empire did not target hospitals.
I understand her anger. But this is an enemy to be careful with.
There is no way she can defeat them alone.
“Wait, I…”
That was the moment I was about to call out to her.
Chloe was standing in front of the door when the blade stuck out of her back.
“Shit!!”
Activate accelerated thinking.
Brain functions increase and only thoughts accelerate.
And, relatively speaking, reality has stopped its moment-
The worst part was where we were standing. The enemy had a blade sticking out from behind the door.
I couldn’t see it. Until Chloe’s chest was pierced.
I didn’t notice anything until I saw the blade through her back!
… The enemy can probably see us from the other side of the door.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to aim so accurately.
This is not a smashing of a door. There is no lock on the door of the examination room in the first place.
..because I threw the pillow away? Because we called that man off?
The enemy saw that there was a threat to them and came from behind the door to kill one of us for sure.
Then, if I take up a position, it will be seen through in the same way.
If the enemy realizes this, there is a possibility of letting me escape. Or we could lose.
In other words, there is only one action I should take now.
“Dr….! Dr. Chloe ….!!!”
He holds the fallen doctor as if he has no idea what has happened.
Then, he moves away from the door, as if he is unnoticed.
He looks slightly behind him and, again, accelerates his thoughts.
(-No sign of pursuit from behind the door, huh?)
The opponent pulls out the sword he has stabbed. And the door begins to open.
I spend endless thoughts for what seems like less than three seconds, activating accelerated thinking in small increments.
(…… shit, it’s like my brain is on fire)
Damn that son of a bitch, damn the commander, you didn’t tell me about the side effects of accelerated thinking.
No, if I was the first one to experiment, it’s possible that he didn’t grasp the side effects yet.
Either way, it’s not a good thing but-
“Hahaha, these eyes are real. I could have killed that annoying priest, couldn’t I?”
“There are some imperials. Let’s kill them all together.”
I pulled the trigger of the integrator I had been turning behind me while hugging Dr. Chloe.
It was a difficult posture to aim, but with the combined use of accelerated thinking, it was no problem.
Two shots, nearly at the same time, tilt the barrel slightly and shoot. That was all.
“I guess the eyes may have been real, but the head on which they rested wasn’t.”
