EX rank supporting role’s replay in a prestigious school - Chapter 844 - Side (9)
Inside the garden, after the floor master collapsed.
Kim Cheol stepped forward, confirming with a nod that all the remnants left from the floor master’s ability had disappeared.
Maeng Hyodon recalled what he learned in class.
‘Defeating a strong guy who’s not the boss, huh? All energy waves it used before it died disappear, and the area will be safe for the time being. That’s when players should take a break before continuing with the attack.’
However, no one in the group, including Maeng Hyodon, intended to rest.
In fact, because Joo Soohyuk’s power mostly defeated the floor master, there was little need for them to rest their special skills or their physical bodies.
‘Seeing Joo Soohyuk fight reminds me of something…’
Maeng Hyodon felt like he could picture the special move that Maeng Hyodon wanted to achieve as he watched how Joo Soohyuk’s power pierced through the enemy’s core.
It occupied his mind, but of course, it was impossible for Maeng Hyodon to imitate Joo Soohyuk.
‘Joo Soohyuk said he takes a lot of inspiration from martial arts. I guess I would learn a lot from Joo Soohyuk’s swordsmanship too.’
While Maeng Hyodon was still thinking of the image of his special move…
“The clouds are still thick. The fog is heavy in lower areas. I think the royal lineage handles a lot of energy waves, and…”
Joo Soohyuk, who was using his Clairvoyance skill, suddenly spoke to Maeng Hyodon.
The latter, who had been concentrating on recalling the former’s sword movements, raised his head in surprise.
“I looked at the place where the concentration of power was high, and the energy waves were strange. What do you think, Hyodon-ah?”
“Something does seem strange,” was what went through Maeng Hyodon’s mind as he closed his eyes.
Tak Geosan, Kim Chul, and the middle school teacher all looked at him.
There seemed to be a reason why Joo Soohyuk asked Maeng Hyodon instead of them.
“Yeah… it seems so…”
“Can you be more specific?”
Maeng Hyodon sincerely tried to think.
He’s not the best at studying, but he has incredible wisdom and sense when it comes to fighting.
Maeng Hyodon came up with something specific.
He recalled when he was in a fight club and fighting against enemies.
Although he never received professional training and had to fight without protective gear, the natural fighter defeated many enemies with his bare hands.
The audience, who were once delighted to see Maeng Hyodon’s success, quickly became bored.
Bringing in an enemy of too high of rarity would risk the fight club of being detected by the association’s satellite.
So, Maeng Hyodon faced enemies that had been modified specially.
“I once fought against an enemy who used that kind of ability.”
“An enemy? What was different about it?”
Maeng Hyodon recalled what happened back then.
Choi Pyeondeuk boasted that he had brought an enemy through a high-ranking person.
There was all that noise, but the enemy’s rarity was no different from usual.
However, the amount of energy waves released by the enemy was excessive.
Maeng Hyodon, seriously injured from the fight, barely defeated the enemy.
From that day on, he had to use large quantities of recovery items.
Since the fight club’s prices were exorbitant, Maeng Hyodon was buried in debt.
‘It’s strange thinking about it know, but there were so many strange things in that fight club that I didn’t pay much attention to it.’
There were so many things that went beyond Maeng Hyodon’s common sense, like the strange outfits worn by the participants and the abnormal behavior they engaged in.
“They used energy waves that seemed old and rotten. Even though its rarity was normal, it had so many energy waves. I think it used some strong energy waves just before I defeated it.”
“The energy waves in this garden are similar to that?”
“Yeah.”
Joo Soohyuk didn’t ask where he saw the enemy or how he ended up fighting it.
Maeng Hyodon had a hunch.
‘Joo Soohyuk knows about the fight club.’
It was something that Joo Soohyuk could easily find out with a little research, so there was nothing he could do about it.
Knowing his past, it wouldn’t be strange for him to offer sympathy or something, but Joo Soohyuk treated him as usual.
He simply acted like a friend he’d known since middle school.
“I guess we’re dealing with something new. Based on Hyodon’s intuition, it’s possible that the garden’s owner selected and accumulated energy waves in advance.”
Maeng Hyodon didn’t understand Joo Soohyuk’s words, but the other three did.
It was possible to turn natural skills into consumable cards, but it was impossible to card energy waves.
Hwang Jiho transformed his boundary skill into a card and gifted it to Kwon Lena.
To activate that card, you ultimately need energy waves.
It was like an electronic device without a battery and could only be activated once energy waves were used.
However, the current enemy went against this logic.
“If my guess is correct, the garden’s owner must’ve stored energy waves in advance and is using it now. In that case, it becomes possible to use incredible amounts of energy waves.”
A shadow fell on Joo Soohyuk’s face.
If humans had that technology, they would have gathered a group of superhumans for at most a few decades.
But if it were used by royal lineage…
It’s possible that the energy waves here had been gathering for hundreds, even thousands of years.
Still, there was room for optimism.
“It’s highly possible that the enemy Hyodon dealt with was a test subject of that energy wave-saving ability. In that case, it’s a technology that’s only recently developed. It couldn’t have gathered that much energy waves.”
All eyes gathered on Maeng Hyodon as he struggled to interpret the words.
They were all looking at him with concern.
“The ones behind this are probably targeting Hyodon.”
Joo Soohyuk came to a conclusion based on the information so far.
It may not be a coincidence that the enemy fought by Maeng Hyodon uses the same power as the owner of this garden.
The fight club may have been a disposal sight for experimental subjects.
‘Do they want to shut Hyodon’s mouth now? No, I don’t think that’s the only thing…’
Joo Soohyuk continued his thoughts and suggested a party arrangement.
Their positions were chosen based on the assumption that the enemy would target Maeng Hyodon first.
Maeng Hyodon wasn’t very reluctant to be put in a protected position, knowing that he was the target.
Only after seeing that his student was convinced did Tak Geosan speak.
“Soohyuk, how the hell did you get here?”
“Hyodon and I greeted our teacher last Teachers’ Day. Even if it’s a little late, I wanted to greet again this year.”
Joo Soohyuk said and smiled at the middle school teacher.
Maeng Hyodon didn’t think Joo Soohyuk was lying, but he knew that wasn’t the whole truth.
“You seemed to be in the middle of your meal, so I wanted to invite you for tea after. I was waiting nearby. Then something strange happened.”
“You’re talking about the transfer?”
“That was one of them.”
Joo Soohyuk hinted at something else.
“Natural energy waves suddenly spiked around Tanrae Middle School. The player satellite detected it right away and alerted nearby devices. Professor Tak Geosan’s device wouldn’t have received it because he’s under the transfer’s influence.”
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence.”
“I guess so. The energy waves phenomenon occurred at the coordinates where the Hwangmyeong Foundation’s bodyguards were dispatched.”
Tak Geosan and Maeng Hyodon knew about the guards.
Even if it was for security purposes, they were still placed under surveillance by the Hwangmyeong Foundation by force, and it didn’t feel good.
They felt sorry when they heard that the guards got caught up in the incident.
“It wasn’t a simple energy wave phenomenon. Something strange happened again when the bodyguards moved to prevent damage to the surrounding area.”
“Again?”
“Yes, their power output suddenly decreased. When I observed with my Clairvoyance eyes, it looked as if their energy waves were being sucked in somewhere.”
Joo Soohyuk said he hadn’t seen that phenomenon for long.
It was because of the spawn that engulfed the Korean restaurant where Tak Geosan and his group stayed.
“Did you jump in after seeing the transfer?”
“That’s right. I saw a garden on the other side of the transfer. I had experience with gardens, so I thought I could help.”
Maeng Hyodon’s middle school teacher, who had been listening the whole time, asked Joo Soohyuk.
“I want to ask you a question, is that okay?”
“Of course, please go ahead.”
“You said there was a phenomenon that looked like energy waves were being sucked in somewhere, right? Can you tell where to?”
Joo Soohyuk accurately described the location and even Tak Geosan knew what he was talking about.
The teacher thanked Joo Soohyuk and spoke with a clouded expression.
“I think it’s related to what I was going to talk to you about today, Professor Tak Geosan.”
The teacher said there was a child who exhibited special abilities in their third year of middle school, and that the child might attend Eungwang High.
The teacher also said that something strange happened when he used the energy wave measurement kit on the child.
“The child’s energy waves were very unstable. It’s common for teenagers, so even when I consulted with the association or the government, they took it lightly. And according to the counselor, it’s relatively common for players who come from civilian families to eventually lose their abilities…”
The middle school teacher wanted to personally find solutions to his students’ problems, so he checked potential youth players’ statistics on energy waves.
There were limits to what a math teacher could do, but he did his best just as he did when helping Maeng Hyodon prepare for his entrance exam.
“I tried different times and circumstances to measure the child’s energy waves. And then, I found the cause.”
After spending his own money to buy energy wave testing kits to check on his student, the teacher came up with a hypothesis.
However, proving it was extremely difficult.
If he raises this and he ends up wrong, he may hurt the child’s entrance exam.
So the middle school teacher tried to find someone to consult through another student who had ties to the player world.
“There’s a place near Tanrae Middle School called the Prospective Youth Player Support Center. Natural energy wave phenomena occur there. When we went to that place, the kid’s energy waves level always dropped sharply.”

Thankd for the chapter.
Uhuh… now that’s an interesting contradiction… well, two.
The prior assumption was that energy wave couldn’t be carded, stored in the raw condition, perhaps, but skill can.
However, this chapter has shown us that there’s a way for it to be kept for an indefinite time, and some degree of degeneration and decay would occur.
So, what would the supposed energy wave tank be?
The other would be, in a place where natural energy wave phenomenon occurred -a natural stimulant for players, i suppose; the player would experience significant drop in their energy wave level (and stability).
This would pretty much suggested two viable approach: the place itself was sabotaged or the involved player was doing something shady.
For now, it was all speculation.
Yet, looking at it from another side… the association or even the government took part in it, eh?

Thank you for the chapter, Ms. Translator! (づ> ᗜ <)づ♡
If their energy drops, it means they can't use their skill that much and would only relay on normal fight mode. (ง •̀_•́)ง
It's look similar to the white snow effect?
Nice chapter as always! and looking forward to more! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

Thanks for the update! I was hoping to see a continuation of Euishin… but that’s okay. Though, it feels like everything flew over my head today… I won’t strain myself trying to understand it. That does mean I don’t have much to say today, though. I’ll be waiting patiently for the next chapter!

Thank you for th chapter, I can’t wait for the others
