EX rank supporting role’s replay in a prestigious school - Chapter 836 - Side
Long fingers carved something in the pitch-black darkness.
An eye blurred as it looked down at the huge and elaborate Jin.
Parts that should’ve been filled were empty, and those that should’ve been deeply engraved were faint.
The one who was supposed to be killed was still alive, and their name disappeared from the kill list.
However, the power that the figure embodied still radiated a sinister aura of malice and hatred.
Flutter.
A tiny sound of wind was heard from beyond the darkness as the butterfly sent by Nabiryeong flapped its wings.
Nabiryeong always made sure not to offend the man by carefully conveying her presence before speaking.
Soon, Nabiryeong’s sweet, thin voice was heard.
“I’m here to receive my orders.”
The figure moved as soon as Nabiryeong spoke.
As they swept the air with their palm, the Jin filled with strong energy disappeared into the darkness.
Only after nothing could be seen was the butterfly allowed to enter the room.
Creak…
The tightly closed door opened, and the scales of Nabiryeong’s butterfly slightly illuminated what was in front of her.
Nabiryeong moved forward, stepping on the scales scattered by the butterflies.
Four people followed behind her, illuminated by the light from the scales.
One with wings, one with a long tail and hair.
A person without eyes, ears, mouth, or nose on his head.
A person with curved horns.
All four of them had non-human appearances.
Fwiish…
After guiding them, Nabiryeong’s summoned butterflies broke into pieces and scattered.
If they stepped somewhere they shouldn’t have, the butterflies would’ve been torn, and that’s how Nabiryeong would know that they weren’t allowed there.
As she stepped on the powdered remains of her butterflies, Nabiryeong spoke.
“I have brought the Four Perils.”
(T/N: The Four Perils Chinese: 四凶; pinyin: Sì Xiōng) are four malevolent beings that existed in Chinese mythology. They are the antagonistic counterparts of the Four Auspicious Beasts.)
The four beings guided by Nabiryeong were the Four Perils that trampled on whatever was good.
The magnitude of malice was the standard by which they served each other, and so the person in the dark was a huge, pure evil that the Four Perils could serve with all their hearts.
The Four Perils treated Nabiryeong favorably as she seemed to have weaved evil out of sweetness.
Nabiryeong saw an earnest joy and loyalty from them when they stood in front of the one they were supposed to meet.
‘My malice must’ve been insignificant compared to that person.’
She felt it more now that she was standing next to people who were sensitive to malice.
In front of that person’s huge and terrifying plan, Nabiryeong’s actions were nothing more than the flap of a tiny creature’s wings.
The Four Perils, who had been calm in front of Nabiryeong, seemed at a loss as they wanted to talk to the black figure right away.
Nabiryeong bowed her head deeply and swallowed her regret.
It was clear that the method she used against Uma wouldn’t work on them.
“Give your report.”
As if waiting for those words, the one with wings, Gungi, spoke.
“I followed the order and returned from the Demon World. I am awaiting my next order.”
As befits someone who is said to be the strongest of the four, Gungi’s voice was full of power, and his saw-like fangs shined sharply with every word.
His way of speaking was threatening, but the way Gungi looked at the black figure was extremely kind.
He was absorbed in the great evil harbored by the figure.
“I said give your report.”
The person’s eyes opened when Gungi failed to give a proper report.
Instead, he raised his slender finger and pointed beside Gungi.
As the tip of his long outstretched finger pointed at the one with long hair and tail, the corner of Dowul’s mouth rose as he smiled arrogantly.
Dowul was satisfied to be favored over Gungi.
“I will report on the path to the Demon World that we have secured. Permission to use my powers.”
“Granted.”
Dowul pulled out one of his hairs.
With magic, it grew even longer, glowing in the dark and depicting a map.
Dowul pointed to a point and reported on their journey to the Demon World.
Before the arrival of the demon who was said to act as a guide to the demon world to fulfill the contract with that person, the Four Perils had been on the verge of death as they carried out orders.
Even as the man listened to the story of the life-threatening adventure, they did not blink an eye.
The languid voice occasionally asked for additional details, the way their finger pointed extremely cold.
Nevertheless, the Four Perils didn’t express the slightest dissatisfaction.
“That is the end of the report.”
The man nodded when Dowul finished his report.
Dowul smiled happily at the sight, even at the absence of a word of appreciation for his hard work.
This time, the man spoke with a hint of energy waves in their voice.
[Come closer.]
The man called over Hondon who was standing still like a statue.
Although he had no eyes, ears, mouth, or nose, Hondon heard the voice through his skin and crawled on all fours to get closer to him.
The man placed his hand on Hondon’s smooth face with no features, and the latter meekly surrendered itself to the touch, conveying what he had experienced through his skin.
‘Hondon returned before the other three to inspect Korea. What order was given to him…?’
Even Nabiryeong, who was notoriously good at getting information, couldn’t get a glimpse into the communication process between the two.
Although Hondon had no facial features, he was a skilled mind reader.
He swallowed information most greedily and reported it through his skin.
Even the other three perils had never properly communicated with Hondon despite spending a long time together.
Nabiryeong realized that she had little room to intervene.
‘As difficult as it is to get information from Hondon, it must be greatly valuable.’
Nabiryeong had no intention of letting go.
After the Four Perils returned, Nabiryeong watched Hondon most carefully.
Hondon was watching over Eungwang District.
‘Hondon kept distance so as not to be detected. Is he reporting on the people who came in and out of Eungwang?’
There were a few personalities who came to Eungwang District during the period that Hondon was surveilling, but there were two groups that particularly caught their eye.
The Fomorian Demons and the Black Forest.
They seemed tame recently, but Nabiryeong remembered that those two were moving strangely.
The Bear Clan was acting strangely too.
Minions of the Eight Real Bears were moving around Eungwang District as if watching over the area as well.
However, it’s uncertain whether Hondon would’ve noticed this.
‘Gah, even if he can’t speak, I wish he had eyes that I can read at least. It’s really hard.’
Nabiryeong engraved in her mind all of Hondon’s movements and the flow of energy waves as he exchanged with the black figure.
The man and Hondon had skin-to-skin contact for only about a minute.
However, it felt like hours for Nabiryeong as she concentrated with all her might.
Nabiryeong continued to lower her head, trying her best not to look disheveled.
When Hondon withdrew from the figure’s side and returned to his post…
“I will give new instructions.”
That person’s long fingers moved again.
This time, the fingers pointed to Docheol, the one with curved horns.
Docheol, who was keeping his posture low, grinned when he was singled out.
He was weak to the strong and strong to the weak, and he followed the man who was strongest here.
“Yes, yes. Please instruct me!”
Docheol bowed and waited for his orders.
The person handed Docheol a piece of paper with Jin engraved on it.
“The solution to the problem is here. Read it.”
“Shall I do it alone?”
“If you can’t do it on your own, you can borrow the power of the other perils.”
Docheol, who had been groveling to the point of appearing servile, stopped.
Gungi and Dowul were looking at him.
Although Hondon couldn’t hear, he seemed to know that Docheol was speaking.
The words of the black figure attacked Docheol’s pride, a being who existed for thousands of years.
However, it’s true that he’s the weakest of the four.
Since he was far from being the strongest, his pride wasn’t that high in the first place.
“Thank you for your consideration. I will carry out your orders!”
Docheol bowed and grabbed the paper, eyes filled with anticipation.
After that, the figure spoke again.
“That’s all. You may leave.”
Gungi, Dowul, and Docheol responded that they would retreat, while Hondon sensed it belatedly and prepared to leave as well.
Nabiryeong naturally stood up and tried to lead them, but…
“Stay behind, Nabiryeong.”
Nabiryeong, who was giving a melting smile, easily walked and knelt down again.
Nabiryeong seemed so relieved and happy to be near the person to the point of not knowing what to do.
Docheol’s face distorted a little at the sight of it.
As soon as the four went out the door, Docheol immediately complained.
“Weren’t Pungbaek and Usa the ones beside that man? How can that small thing be…!”
Nabiryeong was a weakling in Docheol’s eyes.
Dowul spoke sarcastically.
“You know one, not two. Don’t you know why that man kept Pungbaek and Usa close all this time?”
“Isn’t it because the two of them have made great contributions and gained their trust? Those two have their names engraved in mythology. More than anything, they turned their back on Cheonshin to serve. That small creature can’t even compare!”
When Docheol raised his voice angrily, Gungi and Dowul looked much softer.
Docheol’s petty anger and jealousy are virtues felt sweetly by those who enjoy malice.
Gungi answered kindly.
“Pungbaek and Usa were old friends of the Tiger Clan. That person doesn’t know when they’ll act like Unsa again. It was best to keep them close to watch them.”
“…Are you saying there’s mistrust on Nabiryeong? I heard she’s never failed before.”
Docheol thought about Nabiryeong’s activities that he heard about.
Nabiryeong was successful on her own in the Dragon Palace incident and on Christmas Eve when numerous royal lineage clans and collaborators failed.
Nabiryeong infiltrated the association, disabled one of its executives, stole information and threw the association into chaos.
Despite the unexpected descent of the Dragon King, she succeeded in seeing the Yongsae, something that was kept under strict guard in the Dragon Palace.
Those successes were why Docheol was jealous of Nabiryeong.
“Nabiryeong hasn’t failed even once. But the plans involving Nabiryeong always ended up failing short. Only Nabiryeong, who finishes missions alone, is safe.”
Those who failed in their plans were punished, and even when all plans fell apart, only Nabiryeong remained.
It was unclear whether it was because Nabiryeong was extremely superior, or if there was something else.
“They want to see if it’s a coincidence. Keeping Nabiryeong by their side and watching her will lead to the answer.”
Only then did Docheol’s face relax.
“As expected, you are wise! I was shortsighted.”
“There seems to be no problem. Let’s carry out his orders.”
Gungi’s voice became softer as he saw Docheol’s satisfaction.
Urged by Gungi, Docheol unfolded the paper that was given to them.
Then, the person’s magical powers on the paper were scattered to pieces, leaving no trace behind.
After happily reading what was on the paper, Docheol happily said,
“That person gave me permission to use Unsa’s power.”
(T/N: These are the meaning of the names of the Four Perils. Gungi 窮奇 distressingly strange. Dowul 檮杌 block stump. Hondon 渾敦 chaotic torrent. Docheol 饕餮 greedy glutton.)

Thanks for the update! I couldn’t save it for tomorrow when i saw the next button. Very interesting! An entire villain chapter, and a bit more presence to that person. New villains is not good, especially that creepy as all hell no face guy. Though, if they’re the four heavenly beasts counterparts, the four should knowledgeable about them, right? I wonder if these guys made an appearance in PMS, or are another butterfly effect. Speaking of butterflies… I don’t like her, but i dislike that person even more. I don’t like that they’re on to her. Man. She really is quite the character. Its an impressive talent to invoke feelings like she does. You know they’re well written when they make your emotions all confused.

A surprise chapter!!! Hooray!!
Thanks for the chapter.
So, about these four “villains”… could the four be regarded as demonfolk? or something else altogether?
Let’s see if my understanding of equivalence in names are correct.
1. Hundun, the crawling and winged but featureless one (no face, no mouth, no ears, no nose); should be Hondon as the featureless one here was Hondon
2. Qiongqi, ox-horned long fox-tailed and fanged monstrosity, should be Gungi here as that one also has serrated fangs, also in some verse it also has wings.
3. Taotie, the glutton -a human-faced, sheep-bodied species with eyes below the armpit and an infant’s voice. Perhaps, it was Docheol here?
4. Taowu, a tiger-like spirit-like entity covered in dog fur, sporting a pair of protruding boar fangs and an extremely long tail. Well, the one with long hair here was Dowul…
Ps. it’s nice to see that after the life-turning point has passed, the names of the targeted people would no longer there in the list.
also, why were the four in miserable state before the messenger come???

Thank you for the chapter Ms. Translator! (〃^▽^〃)
Intresting! I was wondering when we would see him again. (☆ω☆)
We get to see some new faces, if they are the anti-Four Auspicious Beasts, does that mean they can match the current Beakho lvl? ∑(O_O;)
This is an awesome introduction for them!
Nice chapter as always! and looking forward to more! (^0^)/
