EX rank supporting role’s replay in a prestigious school - Chapter 833
May 14th, Friday morning.
The area around Eungwang High was filled with stalls displaying special merchandise for Teachers’ Day.
Except for carnations, there were almost no giftable items for teachers as most of the stalls sold party supplies and food.
‘No one in our class bought separate gifts too.’
Some kids bring personal gifts, but they’re all personally made instead of bought.
One example was Min Geurin’s painting of wild carnations.
There was a small uproar over her painting since it followed a similar theme to her previous work, and it seems like she painted the same theme again this year.
After hearing the news, the people in the art department eagerly awaited the release of the carnation series.
Her paintings are highly valuable and can’t be given to Professor Ham Geunhyung, but we can still put them up in our classroom.
I’m sure it would attract many artists for the time being.
‘Those attention-seekers said they prepared gifts too.’
Goo Seulbi and Ong Gildong have an extreme dislike for ready-made products.
Clothes from the same brand can be easily bought by other people, making them less noticeable.
Based on those two’s personalities, I’m sure they made something themselves.
‘But thankfully those two aren’t picky eaters.’
They would gratefully eat the food that other kids in our class made or bought without complaints, and they also normally buy food from stores.
Since the attention-seekers were absent from the meeting in preparation for Teachers’ Day, they couldn’t express their opinion on the cake that we had custom-made from MITRON, but I’m sure they’ll enjoy it well.
“You purchased more this year than last year’s Teachers’ Day. You must have more classmates attending school now.”
“Yes! Our number doubled from back then.”
In front of MITRON’s checkout counter, Ryu Jang personally handed over our reserved cake.
Saeum of April, a regular at his store, answered brightly.
I can’t believe he remembers the students who visit on Teachers’ Day when his store has many customers.
It seems like Ryu Jang has been keeping an eye on our class since before.
‘Ryu Jang must be very busy. Did he intentionally go out on our class’ reserved time?’
I don’t think it’s a coincidence since Ryu Jang isn’t always the one at the checkout counter.
However, since there were other guests, I left without being able to have a proper conversation.
“See you again.”
Don’t stores usually say “Come again?”
Saeum of April didn’t seem to find it odd, but I did.
As Ryu Jang said, we would be seeing each other again soon.
Kwaaaa! Pow!
We heard several explosions on our way back to school.
It wasn’t really surprising since we’d been hearing fireworks in carnation shapes all week.
It didn’t need a lot of thinking to figure out that the culprits were GeumChanWangChan.
The two and their gang were very upset that the Jegal air show they prepared last year for April Fool’s Day was interrupted midway.
There were no sound effects since they failed to overpower the broadcasting department, but the sight of Jegal filling the sky was spectacular.
That already seemed cool enough, but GeumChanWangChan wasn’t satisfied.
It seemed like they prepared a more extravagant air show for this year.
The students on their way to school were astonished as the image of Jegal started walking among the carnation fireworks.
It was amazing that they managed to make fireworks in the shape of carnations, but seeing Jegal’s image in the sky made me gape.
‘They prepared well. I think they’ve improved more than they did on April Fool’s Day.’
The way the image walked was natural, and the way it looked down at the students and waved was also spectacular.
I kept admiring it silently as I took pictures with my device.
Soon, the skywalking Jegal stopped.
It seemed like they were going to put on an air show with sound effects this time.
That was expected, but something bothered me.
‘Would Class 1-0 stay still? They’ve got a sense of rivalry with the seniors.’
The moment the thought crossed my mind, something strange happened.
Beep!
Screens were displayed simultaneously on various hologram projection devices all over Eungwang High.
I wondered if it was GeumChanWangChan who prepared it as well, but it didn’t seem to be the case.
“Hey, what’s that? That’s not ours, is it?”
“Look at that hologram! Our Professor Jegal is getting less attention!”
The seniors from Class 3-0 busily moved around, but the control to the projection devices was locked and they couldn’t turn it off.
A few dozen seconds after the hologram appeared, a loud sound rang out from the hologram that was shining on the dark stage.
Jiiing!
It was the sound of a pick sliding over the strings of an electric guitar.
After a long peak of twang, a powerful voice suddenly erupted.
The voice was bright and powerful as if it naturally radiated.
‘It’s my first time hearing this song, but the voice sounds familiar.’
Fwaaat!
Just when I guessed who the voice belonged to, lights came on the stage, revealing a holographic band.
A rhythmic guitarist and vocalist were singing, accompanied by two other guitars, a bass, drums, and a keyboard.
Gasps erupted from all over when the face of the vocalist, who seemed to be in his early twenties, was revealed.
“Look at his face, he’s really handsome…”
“He’s so handsome it’s making me cringe.”
“Who’s that? Is he from our school?”
“Oh… I think I know him!”
“Me too.”
The students began to recognize him.
“It’s Class 1-0’s homeroom teacher, Professor Gong Cheonghwon!”
The hologram showed Gong Cheonghwon who seemed to be in his college days.
I thought it was probably a performance for a school festival, but the quality of the recording was very clear, conveying just how Gong Cheonghwon looked at that time.
Woahh!
Cheers poured in from everywhere as the song ended.
The performance was so great that it made everyone stop in their tracks as they walked to school.
Even GeumChanWangChan couldn’t say anything.
I had a strong belief that music is to be shared for culture and socialization, but I felt like I wanted to listen to Gong Cheonghwon’s songs even on my own.
When the video ended, a bright-faced junior appeared in the hologram.
It was Eun Seoho.
— Hello! My name is Eun Seoho, and I’m the class president of Class 1-0. What you just saw was a video of a band performance filmed by Professor Gong Cheonhwon during his college days. For this year’s Teacher’s Day, we wanted to show off the talents of our homeroom teacher.
— Our professor is so cool, right? I was surprised when I first watched the video too!
After Eun Seoho, we heard Eun Iho’s voice next.
Starting with those two, Class 1-0 began a relay message of how proud they are of their teacher.
Among them, of course, was Yoon Yeorang, who seemed to be following Gong Cheonghwon well too, even though not as much as she does to the Dragon King.
“What do they mean best?! Our Professor Jegal is the best!”
“That’s right!”
“Even if your homeroom teacher sings well, he’s no match for our Jegal-ssaem.”
— Professor Jegal is a great teacher too, we know that.
When GeumChanWangChan and friends finished their rant, Eun Seoho smiled softly and responded.
I thought it was a recorded video at first, it turns out it was a live broadcast.
Eun Seoho’s answer wasn’t anything short of courteous, but it somehow sounded like he was gloating at the losers.
A fireworks show of Jegal walking through carnations is surely amazing, but the impact of the college student Gong Cheonghwon with his band was too great.
‘Why are they starting a homeroom teacher war on Teacher’s Day?’
Those kids looked serious.
As defeat sunk in, GeumChanWangChan made a big decision.
“…Now that things turned out this way, let’s bring out our secret weapon.”
“Here’s a video of Professor Jegal reciting a poem he wrote in high school!”
There’s a video like that?!
I wanted to see that too.
Sing Jegal was no longer able to write poetry after being caught up with the Namgung Group, this would be a very valuable thing.
Soon, a young-looking Jegal appeared in a huge hologram in the sky.
It was refreshing to see the high school student Jegal reading a poem that he wrote himself.
‘So that’s what his poems sound like.’
As I listened to Jegal’s rhythmic poetry, a warm energy filled my body.
A kind and upright personality was transparent in his sophisticated poetic language.
The video wasn’t as flashy as Gong Cheonghwon’s performance, but the sight of the kind-eyed high school student reciting a heart-warming self-written poem was enough for GeumChanWangChan to call him “the coolest.”
In the end, there was no winner between the competing classes.
It may have been a serious battle, but the results were overall positive.
‘There are a lot of videos that Hong Gyubin doesn’t seem to have. That’s great.’
I decided to give Gong Cheonghwon’s video to Hani, and Jegal’s video to Hong Gyubin.
Students caught in the middle were able to watch the rare videos right before classes started.
“Maybe we should’ve looked for old videos of Professor Ham Geunhyung and showed them off.”
When I arrived at the Class 2-0 classroom, Saeum of April asked such a question.
I’m sure he’s not inferior to Gong Cheonghwon or Jegal in any way, but I was personally against it.
‘Professor Ham Geunhyung had a much more grim face when he was young. He’s at a disadvantage compared to Gong Cheonghwon and Jegal.’
Professor Ham Geunhyung’s youthful energy was excessively evident on his face when he was young.
There were rumors that his ID looked like a wanted poster for a violent criminal.
Because of this, the Legendary Archer’s profile photos from his youth often showed his side profile or his back, with his face half-hidden by a bow or a shadow.
“Our professor is a great person even if we don’t brag about him!”
“Lena is right. I think it would be better to spend time privately than those kinds of events. Just like the seniors who just graduated.”
Is Mok Wooram referring to Woo Kihwan’s class?
Kim Yuri responded.
“Ah, I saw a post on the general bulletin board. I heard there’s a match between Woo Kihwan sunbaenim and Professor Im Yeonhwa which will be broadcast live tomorrow.”
They didn’t give up even after graduation…!
But can that really be regarded as “private” time?
“Our class is quite ordinary compared to the other Class Zeroes.”
“…We’re normal?”
“Of course. Compared to the Teacher’s Day events I saw so far, ours is a bit tame.”
I wouldn’t call our class “ordinary” though.
Case in point, Hani’s self-proclaimed best friends.
Anyway, when the day’s schedule was over, it was finally time for the finale.
Just as planned, our class kidnapped Professor Ham Geunhyung.

Thanks for the chapter, Ms. Translator! (•▽•)/
wow! wonderful ideas! to showcase their professors talent like this on teacher day. ♡✧ദ്ദി( ˶^ᗜ^˶ )
Nice chapter and heartwarming. (ㅅ´ ˘ `)

Thanks for the update! I was hopeful, but I’m really happy there’s a chapter today! We’re soon approaching two years of the start of the daily updates, aren’t we? I think it was really a new era for Ex Rank. I’m not exactly sure, cause i didn’t mark the start, as i didnt know how important it would become to me. Anyways, We’re ordinary! *kidnaps their teacher* I think ordinary is not the right word. Polite, perhaps. Well-behaved. But they’re just a different flavor of crazy. I’m pretty confident they have committed more crimes than any other class zero. They mostly keep their crazy respectfully out of school. Good for them.
Old_Cat
oooohhh… I’m a bit late (again)
thanks for the chapter.
class zeroes really could make any day a (special) festive one, regardless of whether the day itself was a special day or not, aren’t they…
and Euishin’s background commentary of the young teach Ham was too … [omitted]
then again, if I was teach Jegal I would rather hide myself in some holes for indefinite time thanks to this grandiose “event”, well… I don’t know about teach Gong, tho.
and yes, your batch of class 0 was the most normal, Euishin… don’t let go of that pride.
