- Chapter 824 - Countermeasure (7)
Since the student ambassadors, except Dokgo Miro, are here, the students’ gazes naturally gathered.
Considering the role of a student ambassador, I guess the decision is obvious.
However, there are countless excellent players at our school, so I wondered if I should take a slot away from them.
‘Wouldn’t it be better to give the other kids a chance? And there’s something I want to do over the summer vacation too…’
Yeom Junyeol spoke with a grin and no idea as to what I was thinking.
“The student ambassadors may apply for participation in the preliminary round through the student council. Alright, moving on to our next agenda.”
The subject changed before I had the chance to express myself.
Yeom Junyeol, a great senior and a good student, seemed to have done it to save me the trouble.
I looked at the next agenda with mixed feelings.
There were quite a few items to be covered today.
‘They got more work compared to last year. An exchange exhibition with the military academy is scheduled, and the selection of companies to prepare for the youth retreat also needs to be done all over again.’
Although there was clearly a lot of work, the student association members completed their reports neatly without showing any signs of hardship.
The reports from the Student Council and the General Club were also excellent.
I can really feel the difference now that all the heads of autonomous organizations are my playable characters.
But there was something that bothered me in Heo Chaeah’s report.
‘The Stalemate chess group postponed the chess competition schedule.’
Stalemate says they plan to hold the chess tournament around the time of the exchange exhibition with the Military Academy.
Now that chess has been added as one of the sports categories, it seems like they adjusted the schedule to use the school competition as a preliminary round.
Ong Gildong is a member of Stalemate, but I don’t know if he’ll participate.
‘I think they’ll come to school to compete.’
The academic semester will end in a few months, meaning they won’t have any time to get their much-needed attention, but I’m sure they’re considering that.
I’m just worried that they might be blinded by it and forget what’s really important.
* * *
When the cherry blossoms finally fell, the test results were announced.
‘I’m glad there’s no one in our class who has to retake a test.’
Maeng Hyodon looked very worried that he might’ve made a mistake on his answer sheet because his score was so close to almost failing.
His worries were defeated and he could finally let out a sigh.
Until the next exam, that is.
‘Eunho was the valedictorian in their year level. He did his best this time too.’
The rankings among the freshmen aren’t much different.
Eun Seoho and Eun Iho couldn’t overcome Eunho and Cha Seokwon’s barriers.
Worried that they might be upset, I bought them a gift and visited the mansion to comfort them.
Surprisingly though, they seemed okay.
Rather, it seemed like they were greatly relieved that Eunho beat Cha Seokwon.
“Eunha is in Class Zero. His victory is our victory.”
“That’s right! We decided not to worry too much and just compete in good faith.”
The descendants’ words are very dignified.
Have they grown this much already?
Or perhaps they just like Cha Eunha.
Eunho is still maintaining a solid line between them, but his descendants seem to follow him naturally.
Maybe it’s blood instinct, and Hwang Jiho found it very remarkable too.
“Good. That attitude is characteristic of a Tiger Clan descendant. Get along well with your classmates.”
“We’ll be closer to our classmates just like you, sunbae Hwangho-nim!”
“Yeah!”
They call Hwang Jiho as “sunbae Hwangho-nim.”
The other versions I heard are “young Hwangho-nim,” “much younger Hwangho-nim,” and “old Hwangho-nim.”
“Heh, it’s nice being called sunbae by my descendants.”
He’s much more than just a sunbae considering the age difference, but it seems like Hwang Jiho likes it very nice.
Recalling how Eunho likes to call me “hyung,” it seems like the tigers generally have a different conception of age.
“Thanks to me getting the top spot, one of the rumors circulating within TC Group has been put to rest.”
“Rumor?”
“That I was admitted illegally.”
I was having a meal with Eunho at the dormitory cafeteria when I almost fainted at the news.
Why is there always controversy surrounding Eunho’s academic background, even in the previous world?
“It may seem strange that I got the top spot when I suffered from Locked-in Syndrome. If I continue doing well, those rumors will be completely dispelled.”
“Tell me if you need anything.”
“Okay. Thank you, Euishin hyung.”
I impulsively offered help and regretted it a little.
I think it would be better and more helpful if he asked Cheon Dongha.
I tried to retract my words, but I couldn’t find the time to talk.
Anyhow, it was fortunate that Eunho is gradually strengthening his position within the TC Group.
Students generally put high regard to their exam results, but some students don’t think much of it.
“Ah, I thought I’d have to take a retest. Lucky me. I gotta play in the PZ OBT.”
“You almost had to take a retest?”
“Yeah. But hey, I did better than your class crazyhead.”
I was eating a waffle burger with Yoo Sanghoon and Jang Namwook, celebrating the end of the exams.
I knew that Yoo Sanghoon messed up his academics, but his condition seemed worse than I thought.
Even after the CBT, Yoo Sanghoon gave up studying to review his recorded gameplay and check the community bulletin board like a maniac.
The only reason he didn’t fail was he didn’t want to take a test during the OBT period.
‘It’s bad enough that he’s comparing himself to Hwang Jiho.’
Hwang Jiho, who scored 40 points in all subjects, has never missed last place.
Some students occasionally fail particular subjects with a score below 40, but their general average still exceeds 40.
‘It’s okay if he has some bigger dreams like Dokgo Miro, but if not, I think it’s best if he maintains his grades.’
I’ve seen countless cases of people who realized their dream late only to be held back by their academic performance.
One of the weapons a student can have is academic background, so I don’t want him to let this go easily.
Although it’s a bit difficult, it’s possible to maintain good grades and enjoy a game, so I hope he works hard.
With that in mind, I encouraged Jang Namwook to nag Yoo Sanghoon.
“Sanghoon-ah, is that really true? There was a cadet at the academy who played that game, but he didn’t flunk his exams. Did Sanghee noona say anything? She cares about your grades, you know?”
Yoo Sanghoon’s face scrunched.
He already got hit by Yoo Sanghee, maybe even more.
“Yoo Sanghee-ssi confided with that bastard…”
Do Wonwoo.
Regardless of the guy’s ugliness, he had excellent grades so it wouldn’t be strange to ask him for advice.
Considering that Yoo Sanghoon doesn’t like him though, he can’t be considered a good adviser for him.
While driving Yoo Sanghee home, Do Wonwoo ran into Yoo Sanghoon and gave him advice on the spot.
“He was spitting crap while dodging my fist.”
He used to get hit before when he teased Yoo Sanghoon that they’d be family in the future.
“What did Wonwoo hyung say?”
“…He said he dodged ‘cos he was afraid it wouldn’t hurt if I landed a punch. If it didn’t hurt, that means he’s in a dream, and he doesn’t want to wake up.”
Yoo Sanghoon spoke in disgust, but I admired Do Wonwoo’s attitude.
He’s saying it’s like a dream that he’s close to Yoo Sanghee.
Jang Namwook was confused and couldn’t guess the meaning.
Yoo Sanghoon looked really upset that he wanted to throw up in front of us.
Jang Namwook’s nagging was put to rest by the unexpected story.
He’s tactful about Yoo Sanghoon’s temperament.
* * *
The appeal review and grade correction period that followed the first exam results has ended.
When the final ranking was announced, I received a message from Yeom Junyeol.
[Yeom Junyeol] (Link)
[Yeom Junyeol] I’m sorry, teacher. I missed the top spot this time too.
The link had the rankings of the third-year students.
[Announcement of Final Rankings for 3rd Year First Semester Midterm]
[1st place: 3-1 Cheon Dongha]
[2nd Place: 3-1 Yeom Junyeol]
[3rd Place: 3-0 Jung Haeon]
…
…
…
Rankings usually change in the third year due to career decisions or students suddenly working hard, but the first and second places were the same as before.
Still, Yeom Junyeol didn’t die down.
[Yeom Junyeol] Next time, I’ll get grades that will surprise you, teacher!
[Yeom Junyeol] (Stamp)
The stamp showed a cheerful-looking Hongryong smiling.
Ever since he found out about the energy wave link, Yeom Junyeol seemed more energetic than ever.
‘I should try linking with him next time.’
A royal lineage has to participate for that to happen, but Yong Jegun should be easy enough to call.
However, considering his busy schedule, it seems like we can’t have a class any time soon.
[Kim Yuri] Euishin-ah, I’m starting to plan our spring picnic. Let me know when you’ll be free during the vacation!
[Kim Yuri] The kids all want it on a day when we can all go! ^∇^!
As May approached, Sung Gukeon’s assassination scenario was just around the corner, which meant all my weekends were busy.
Even so, I promised my class that we’d go on a picnic, and I didn’t want to break that.
Moreover, we had plans other than the picnic.
[Joo Soohyuk] Euishin-ah, Hyodon-ah!
[Joo Soohyuk] Are you free on Children’s Day?
[Joo Soohyuk] The team said they wanted to invite players who participated in the last year’s incident.
[Joo Soohyuk] Ah, I got an answer from Sihoo and Namwook. They say they can come!
I got an invitation thanks to last year’s Children’s Day incident.
I was a bit concerned about what the baseball stadium scene would be like on Children’s Day this year.
Other than that, I got another message.
[Ok Toyeon] Eunin-ah, Eunin-ah.
[Ok Toyeon] You should come to the baseball stadium on Children’s Day, okay?
[Ok Toyeon] I’m going too, you know? And it was really hard to make time. Are you going?
[Ok Toyeon] — — Just say yes, come on!
I had promised Ok Toyeon to watch a game someday.
I guess it would be a bit weird if all the student players came and I didn’t.
It’s a bit difficult, but I can’t miss it.
‘I have to adjust my schedule.’
A solution was needed.
As I was thinking about it, Hwang Jiho said,
“You’d have to ask for understanding, but there’s a simple solution.”
Hwang Jiho offered a solution.
If I followed Hwang Jiho’s suggestion, I could condense my schedule but my classmates wouldn’t like it.
I don’t know if all of them would prefer it.
“Hahahaha! I think our class will agree. Try it first. It would be faster if you suggest it than if I do.”
Since I couldn’t think of anything else, I decided to test Hwang Jiho’s suggestion.
I was skeptical, but the kids in our class really readily agreed.
As a result, on May 5th, Children’s Day…
Class 2-0 went on a picnic to the baseball field.
Old_Cat
thanks for the chapter.
is the schedule return to normal/daily again???
oh, don’t answer. Let me keep my expectation high.
now, onto the chapter.
sigh… it was worse than what I thought.
I was thinking that Euishin most likely would just play moderately, to make the original 2 protagonists shine brighter at the exhibition, but voluntarily relegate his seat??? just… no.
and how the times flies so fast… I thought Euishin and co had just started their 2nd year 1st semester, but Euishin has already talking about the end of the school terms??
and Sanghoon, I hope you realize that comparing yourself to a “crazy” was a stupid thing?? that crazy deliberately got 40 on all subject, y’know???
I hope naggy Namwook could set him straight again. I refuse to see my boy Sanghoon become a failing student.
ps. it’s kinda funny that he and DWW still could not “accept” the reality
last, for EnergyWave-linkage… I don’t think that a RL should be present, tho… didn’t they say that it only required a partner of different origin from the descendant? so a human should works too
Old_Cat
a question in another topic tho…
I see that the other translator has caught up with their “re-translation” of the horrendously translated chapters of Ex-rank on their own site.
will the translators join hand or go their own way afterwards??
Alley_Cat
Thanks for the update! Aw, I really want Euishin to go! Come on, there’s no better rep than you, surely! Don’t you want acknowledgement for the school most of your playable characters attend? Ah, well. Surely he’ll end up going anyways, story wise. I can’t see him not going with how the story has portrayed it so far. Anyways, Sanghoon, I get it, but graduating is good. The education system is very flawed, but it has a very strong importance in society. But, I would totally be him, and probably not even pass, so I can’t really say much. I have other things I could say, but I’ll leave it here.

Thanks for the chapter Ms. Translator! (´。• ω •。`)
[1st place: 3-1 Cheon Dongha] impressive, he really took first place again this year. (-‿-)✧
This chapter truly showcases the hectic schedule of our main character and his popularity among numerous individuals.
Eun Seoho and Eun Iho’s responses are absolutely lovely. They are such polite children, and I believe it goes beyond just being connected by “blood instinct” MC.
Nice chapter as always! and looking forward to more! ヽ(^◇^*)/
foxfirek
MC still doesn’t realize how much his class really loves and appreciates him- I like how many of them know his secrets and just pretend not to. It’s nice to see fluffy chapters like this. He needs a break.
