The former head of the association couldn’t answer properly.
[I can’t know for sure, but we can guess. It must have something to do with why he left this AI behind.]
The answer made me question if it was an aftermath of the calculation error.
Almost everyone present here passed the test so I don’t think he’s hiding anything.
There must be another reason.
‘Is it because of that?’
Something was on my mind.
The former head of the association handed over a huge amount of information about his life.
I searched through them all, but I found no clue that says that the enemy can use his light skill.
He wouldn’t have left a lot of those important and dangerous clues.
Which only means one thing.
“It looks like Euishin knows why my grandfather can’t answer.”
[Let’s hear it.]
With that, all eyes fell on me.
The silence prompted me to answer.
“You said that after you died, there was a problem with implanting the information on the AI.”
When I won against him for the first time, he talked about how the AI was built.
Since his spirit was tied to an agreement, he couldn’t leave the clues while he was alive.
Perhaps that’s why not everything was relayed.
The former head of the association said this before.
— [Even with thorough preparations, importing information isn’t easy. Maybe because it’s done after death, but about twenty percent of the information set to be uploaded was empty.]
If the secret behind the former head’s light skill is included in that twenty percent, this AI obviously wouldn’t be able to answer Sung Gukeon’s question.
The others lamented when they heard my guess.
“I want to know the details of that contract, grandfather.”
[Not everything was recorded then. It was the Dark Ages. I signed the contract with the Demon Race, but also with a royal lineage aside from them.]
I didn’t immediately exchange information with Cheon Dongha after he passed the test, that’s why most of this is news to me.
Nevertheless, I noticed that the case involving the frozen otherworlds was related to that contract.
Perhaps Sung Gukeon and Cheon Dongha thought so too.
[My soul was tied up while I was alive, and my body was released when I died. I went into the simulator before they recovered my body.]
“A strong player leaves behind power when he dies. To think that you’ve done such sophisticated work…”
[Well, an important piece of information went missing in the end. It doesn’t matter.]
Instead of being mournful upon learning the secrets of his grandfather’s death, Sung Gukeon admired him.
But the former head of the association chose to take his own life, and there’s no way he doesn’t feel anything about that.
Sung Gukeon is perfectly hiding his emotions.
‘I need to figure it out for Sung Gukeon.’
The Black Screen took the former head’s body.
Prior to this, I thought it was just to erase the traces of their contract completely.
But now, knowing that Pungbaek and Usa may have used his power, the true story may be different.
“The Black Screen can use another person’s powers, regardless if the person consents. I saw them use it.”
Wu Zhiqi and Gugalanna are victims, and perhaps Unsa too.
And now, it’s possible that a human who died a long time ago is also a victim.
“We don’t know if they can use it on dead humans.”
No one refuted it.
Such an unprecedented story would’ve been difficult to accept, but everyone here quickly understood.
[So the power that attacked my grandson might be mine.]
“Light skills can’t be replicated, so it’s highly likely. But there’s a possibility that a player with a similar light skill may have been born after you died.”
Sung Gukeon, who was silent for a moment, spoke up.
“We’ve got more work to do. I’ll get my grandfather’s body back.”
Sung Gukeon proclaimed faithfully.
Even though the location of the body and the means used by the enemy haven’t been accurately determined yet, my confidence rose upon his proclamation.
Jeon Muyeong didn’t express any opposition either.
Needless to say, I also intended to help.
“I’ll help too.”
For Sung Gukeon and for the players that the Black Screen made to suffer.
It’s the power that made Sung Siwan and Cheon Dongha, the best players in Eungwang High, struggle so much.
Sung Gukeon had himself destroyed so many times during the Replay too.
‘It won’t be easy.’
The chance to recover the body will come when Sung Gukeon’s life is in danger.
There’s a great risk, but it’s inevitable.
‘I thought I had space to not ask Cheon Dongha for help, but now that it’s come to this, I think I’d need him.’
After a short sigh, I decided to ask Cheon Dongha.
“I need your help too, Cheon Dongha sunbaenim.”
“No need to ask. I can’t let that person’s power be used for evil.”
Cheon Dongha nodded as if he was waiting.
Although I felt sorry for putting them in danger, I felt relieved to have my seniors by my side.

On the way home, inside the air sedan.
Jeon Muyeong was always in the driver’s seat even though the car was always on autopilot but now was different.
Jeon Muyeong nodded as Sung Gukeon took the driver’s seat.
“I knew his ability before the test so I was in a much better position than my juniors. Still, I’m ashamed that it turned out like this.”
After the conversation ended, Jeon Muyeong took the former head’s test.
He passed it after much effort, but he looked exhausted.
He took a break before they left, but his condition was still bad.
“That ability manifests differently for everyone, Muyeong-ah. Don’t sweat it.”
Jeon Muyeong wanted to refute and say that it was his weak mind that caused it, but he shut his mouth knowing that it would be no use.
Sung Gukeon quickly changed the subject.
“There’s a lot we didn’t know. Isn’t that right? I can’t believe that’s how my grandfather died.”
Sung Gukeon brought up the information they obtained today.
Although he was more sentimental than usual, he still didn’t waver.
Rather, he seemed to be looking forward to what kind of information he’d get from the data chip given by Jo Euishin and how his juniors would perform.
Observing Sung Gukeon, Jeon Muyeong commented.
“I think you were more surprised by Professor Yong Jegun’s sincerity than by your grandfather’s secrets.”
“Haha! It wasn’t much different from what I expected. I knew my grandfather would do something like that. But for Professor Yong Jegun…”
Sung Gukeon’s smile seemed mixed with other emotions.
He had a long conversation with Yong Jegun after the Replay.
They talked about Yong Jegun’s actions in there too.
It was hard to believe, but there were no contradictions considering the actual situation and what Sung Gukeon knew.
“Ha, that mischievous dragon kept wishing for the professor to live, and the professor didn’t respond. I would’ve never believed it if I didn’t go through the Replay.”
Yong Jegun revealed what he had been through as he enjoyed Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong’s reactions.
His experience included stories that couldn’t be made light of, but Yong Jegun was relentless.
‘Maybe it’s easy to say because it wouldn’t happen anymore.’
Yong Jegun asked what the two people’s Replays were like.
He was very curious about what happened after his death.
Asking about a disastrous future seemed evil, but they understood.
Sung Gukeon was curious too.
“I was in a garden, but I left clues before I died. I don’t know if they were found though.”
Sung Gukeon was always wary of people of royal lineage, so he hid the clues in a way that they wouldn’t recognize.
He wanted to know what happened to those clues.
Jo Euishin must’ve known, but he was reluctant to ask directly.
‘Euishin looks distressed every time we talk about Replay. He doesn’t have to blame himself for putting us in that nightmare though.’
That’s why Sung Gukeon thanked him and complimented him a lot, but it didn’t seem to have much effect.
Sung Gukeon vowed to express his gratitude to his junior.
“Let’s rest early tonight. We can read the materials needed for the legal seminar before departure.”
Soon enough, the air sedan arrived at his home.
Before getting out of the air sedan, Sung Gukeon asked Jeon Muyeong to do something.
“Rest up today. Put off the homework that Euishin left for you.”

With the cherry blossoms still in full bloom, the Eungwang High students took their midterm exams.
Some of us expected the non-school-goers to attend school to take the tests, but they didn’t.
Goo Seulbi and Ong Gildong were absent throughout.
‘They would’ve gone during the exam period since it would have attracted much attention, but their pace might be messed up and their grades would fall.’
It seems like we’ll see them at the spring picnic.
They felt very sad when they thought they weren’t included in the picnic last fall.
They’ll surely make a mess if they’re not invited.
Anyway, there were students who took the midterms very seriously.
[Yeom Junyeol] I’ll definitely take the top spot in our year, teacher.
[Yeom Junyeol] (Stamp)
The stamp showed Hongryong studying under cherry blossoms.
Perhaps it was designed by the Dragon Clan to cheer on Yeom Junyeol in his exams.
Considering that Cheon Dongha spent a lot of his time battling the former head of the association, Yeom Junyeol is at an advantage.
But he also had to work on several schedules, so perhaps it’s still a close match.
‘His dongsaeng Cheon Eunha will be first place, so maybe he’ll try his best to do the same.’
Cheon Dongha is naturally good, but he’s not the type to be frustrated by rankings.
Now that he has a strong motivation, the competition in their year would be tight.
‘Joo Soohyuk and Ahn Dain would surely be on top, and for the freshmen…’
I felt sorry for Eun Seoho and Eun Iho, who studied hard to overthrow Cheon Eunha, but I don’t think they’d beat him.
Cha Seokwon is in their batch too.
But of course, I didn’t dampen the two’s morale with this information.
It’s a senior’s duty to support his studious juniors.
“Our class studied hard thanks to you, Euishin hyung. I think the average in our batch is quite high.”
I ran into Eunho at the cafeteria on the day of the exams.
I think he was exaggerating, but it was good news that my juniors worked hard.
Old_Cat
thanks for the chapter.
one question came up after reading Euishin’s narrative.
It was not possible for two persons living in the same time to have exactly the same light skill.
And when a royal lineage person or superior being appointed a “proxy” they would only alter the proxy’s light skill characteristic and imbued it with His/Her authority, not overwrote it.
Then grandpa Sung chimed in that it was possible that the same light skill could appear after the previous user/player perished… well, just think of it as devil fruit user for easier context.
But, would it be possible for two beings -of different… “races” (human, royal lineage, superior being) to have exactly the same ability?
….
as for grandpa’s body… the demons/the villaneous RL didn’t let it go? even after they obtained his soul???
Old_Cat
dear me… adding one more to mine’s today’s error number.
villaneous => villainous

Thanks for the chapter! Well, I must say, i’m curious about the utilization of dead humans. PMH had a loooot of dead humans after all. Nothing is really confirmed, but what are the conditions? Being able to use people’s abilities freely without consent, without them even having to be alive, is way too op, after all. Surely Euishin would’ve noticed if they had been repurposing in PMH. Do they have to be dead for a certain amount of time? Is the amount of targets limited? Did the Association Grandpa have a special constitution that allowed him to be eligible like the royal lineage? Eh, perhaps this questioning is dumb. But whateves. I’ll leave it here for today. You’re the best translator Aira! :3
