- Chapter 819 - Countermeasures (2)
Midnight, parking lot in the central area.
Considering Sung Gukeon’s schedule, I thought it would take some time before we could meet, but the appointment was set as soon as I reached out.
He suggested meeting at night outside.
After a short wait, his air sedan arrived.
“Did you wait long? Sorry for making you go out this late.”
“It’s alright. Thank you for agreeing to meet.”
“Get in. Let’s talk before we move.”
I got in the car, thinking he had something to tell me about Replay.
It’s late so there aren’t many people outside, but talking in the soundproof car is safer.
‘There’s a reason why he asked to meet earlier than the time we set with Cheon Dongha.’
Will he hand over a report from Jeon Muyeong’s experience in Replay?
It’s best to check it immediately and ask questions on the spot to ensure the contents are clear.
However, Jeon Muyeong only looked at me after a short greeting.
‘…Why isn’t he saying anything?’
Sung Gukeon, who was still looking at me, laughed.
“Haha! Judging from the look on your face, you have no idea what I wanted to talk to you about.”
It isn’t about Replay?
Is it about the Fomorians?
I tried to recall incidents that had to do with Sung Gukeon but I couldn’t find an answer.
I asked if it was about Replay, and Sung Gukeon answered.
“You’re not wrong, but it’s a little different. Did you think I was a cold-hearted senior who wouldn’t express gratitude to my benefactor?”
Neve once did I think that Sung Gukeon was cold-hearted.
I saw in PMH and in this world how kind and royal he was.
Wait, did he just call me a benefactor?
As I thought about what he meant, a big hand clasped my shoulder tightly.
I reflexively looked up at Sung Gukeon.
“I couldn’t thank you properly back then. Thank you, Euishin-ah.”
What’s he talking about all of a sudden?
Is he thanking me for the information he got from Replay?
I couldn’t quite grasp why Sung Gukeon would thank a junior who put him through a nightmare.
I told him he didn’t have to thank me for the information, but Sung Gukeon shook his head.
“I’m not thanking you for the Replay. I’m thanking you for everything you’ve done so far.”
Sung Gukeon began to explain every detail as if he were talking to a child.
He brought up everything from the Unnamed Supporting Role’s Tutorial up to now and thanked me for everything.
I was distracted by the outpour of gratitude.
I tried to butt in, but Sung Gukeon somehow put strength into the hand that held my shoulder to make me come to my senses.
He thanked me for almost everything, even those that weren’t publicized.
‘He compared everything that happened in Replay and in this world? I think he just guessed, but he confirmed a few of them based on my reaction.’
Sung Gukeon’s mind, memory, and intelligence were at a high level in the game, and more so in this world.
As I admired Sung Gukeon, he tapped my back with a loud sound.
It didn’t hurt, but it made me forget what I was thinking.
“There’s a lawmaker who had ill intentions in Replay. I investigated him. He’s not in politics in this world, but he was involved in the Hwanmong Gate.”
I had an ominous hunch at the mention of the Hwanmong Gate.
“I can’t believe the Red Wall Thief is my junior! I see why Phantom Thief Neon suddenly asked about the Red Wall Thief at the auction.”
Ah…
Sung Gukeon said “that word.”
Ong Gildong, who was wearing a swan mask, saw the crow mask at the auction and said “that word.”
I was with Sung Gukeon that day and it seems like he heard it well.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Goo Seulbi made her entrance before the topic was stretched.
“I thought about the possibility that you were the Red Wall Thief’s associate, but you’re not the type to pass on that dangerous task to others. Looking at your actions and the Tiger Clan’s, you started that work before you were backed up by them. It’s amazing that you did it alone.”
“I didn’t expect that the Red Wall Thief was this young. We didn’t even imagine him to be a high school student.”
My mind shook heavily.
I’d rather have the gratitude downpour.
Should I prepare myself to hear “that word” every time I use Replay?
Sung Gukeon smiled happily and said,
“It’s my job to listen to people. But for a long time, I was biased and turned away from people of royal lineage and descendants, even the people close to them. What happened in the Replay was the result of that.”
It was painful to hear “that word,” but Sung Gukeon’s sentiments healed me.
Sung Gukeon’s world is wider now.
It was Kim Shinrok who changed his views, so I think it’s better if he thanks him instead.
“Haha! No matter how much you deny it, everything is because of you. Without you, I wouldn’t have had a chance to know that my professor was a descendant. I wouldn’t have even known Professor Yong Jegun’s true intentions.”
“The Congressman is right.”
I didn’t say anything, but the two of them talked like they could read my mind.
Still, it bothers me to hear positive things after showing them a nightmare.
Sung Gukeon spoke to me sincerely.
“I think I know why you have a power like Replay, Euishin-ah.”
Sung Gukeon took his hand off my shoulder.
“That nightmare is a fiction that would never start if you were there. So of course, it’s only you who has the ability to show that nightmare.”
Everything else aside, just as Sung Gukeon said, I’ll do my best to not make that nightmare a reality.
* * *
In front of the Student Council Hall.
We arrived at the exact time promised with Cheon Dongha.
I worried that we’d be a little late, but we made it on time.
‘It felt like a long time, but not much time had passed.’
Perhaps it’s because I only listened to the conversation.
When Cheon Dongha saw us, he opened the door and guided us inside.
“So the secret association was from your generation, sunbaenim.”
“I left it behind believing that my juniors would solve its mysteries one day.”
“I see. But in the end, it wasn’t the student association nor the council who solved it.”
Sung Gukeon and Cheon Dongha talked comfortably even though they had just greeted each other.
Cheon Dongha’s expression seemed complicated at first, perhaps because he was reminded of the former head of the association and the terrible mental attack he got from him, but he seemed to accept that Sung Gukeon wasn’t him.
“We won’t let our juniors deal with the otherworld. Let us.”
“It’s like the old days. I cleared it with you several times before when we were still in school, sir.”
Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong were in charge of leading us into the boss room.
The speed of their attacks was extremely fast, and Cheon Dongha praised their impeccable teamwork.
We arrived at the boss room earlier than ever.
“We’ll finally see what’s behind this door.”
I briefed them earlier on, but I guess they’re excited to see it for themselves.
Sung Gukeon put his hand on the door with anticipation.
Wooong…!
The door opened following the mechanical sound.
A light poured out through the door and gradually revealed the former head of the association.
As he and Sung Gukeon faced each other, the differences were there, but they really resembled each other.
Sung Gukeon spoke in a cool voice.
“Hello, Grandpa.”
[Another grandson of mine? You’re from the memories of another grandson of mine.]
“Haha! You really are my grandfather’s AI.”
The two were very similar it was quite awkward.
Sung Gukeon smiled happily as if he was glad to be greeted by his grandfather.
“There are many things I want to ask. It took me a long time to follow the clues that my grandfather left behind to get here.”
[Is that so? If you want to get a clue, go on with the test. I won’t go easy on you because you’re my grandchild.]
“I know. I heard what happened with Siwan. I don’t need special treatment either.”
Jeon Muyeong smiled bitterly.
“I wanted to take the test too, but I don’t think you’ll let me, sir.”
As he expected, Sung Gukeon did not yield.
Knowing Sung Gukeon and his spirit, there’s no need for us to worry.
Maybe he’ll finish it the quickest.
And just as I expected, Sung Gukeon passed in no time.
He looked quite tired after.
“Doing it this fast…”
Cheon Dongha, who had a hard time passing the test, exclaimed.
Sung Gukeon is a brilliant man, but I hope Cheon Dongha doesn’t feel disappointed in himself.
‘There’s another reason why he finished so fast.’
I expected what the former head would say about his grandson, but nothing came out.
Instead, the noise in the whole boss room was tuned out.
Jeon Muyeong said,
“It’s a sign that the simulator is experiencing a computational error. It’s running a debugging program.”
“It’s probably because my memory and his time alive were intertwined. It will be normalized soon.”
The former head of the association seems to have made an error while attacking Sung Gukeon.
The noise gradually subsided.
Sung Gukeon only watched in thought.
‘He must’ve learned something from their confrontation.’
When the room returned to normal, the former head of the association appeared again.
Sung Gukeon immediately questioned him.
“Is that attack my grandfather’s light skill?”
[That’s right.]
The former head of the association answered a beat late.
Is it an effect of the error?
Sung Gukeon took the time to ask again.
“Now that you’ve read my memory, I don’t need to explain the details. Why did those people use my grandfather’s light skill?”
The reason why Sung Gukeon cleared it quickly.
The power used by Pungbae and Usa seemed to be related to the former head of the association’s light skill.

thanks for the chapter.
dundundudun… the “forsaken” nickname resurfaced again.
how nostalgic.
and,,,
humility or being humble person is a virtue, however,
when that person took it to the extreme and (always) casually dismiss others’ appreciation
it could be seen as a mockery towards those “appreciators”
it was like you’re saying that they have no eyes or that they have “bad eyesight”
and that’s not good.
be more confident, Euishin!!
Alley_Cat
Thanks for the update! This is what I was waiting for, truly! Good job Gukeon! Give Euishin the praise he deserves! I like the name Red Wall Theif and its variations, but I suppose spoken aloud it is a bit cringe… especially for Euishin, who is so sensitive to praise and titles. Hm, how many people call Euishin benefactor now? There’s the Tiger Clan, Dragon Clan and Rabbit Clan, of course… The Ultimate Benefactor. I wish he got even more recognition, but the black screen is still active and I don’t want Euishin to be so uncomfortable and Die from embarrassment. I wish I could go in there and try to frame it as his playable characters. You would want your playable characters to be properly appreciated , don’t you? Lena thinks badly of herself, that doesn’t mean she’s right about it. But, as someone similar to Euishin somewhat in this regard… I understand how difficult it is to stop thinking badly of yourself. No matter how much people tell you otherwise. Of course, my situation doesn’t compare to Euishin’s in severity, but I’m a bit closer to understanding.

Thank you for the chapter Ms. Translator! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
So, that power was also a copy of Grandpa’s ability? ( °ㅁ°) !!
This means that they had mastered this stealing ability long before this chaos started!
Great chapter as always! Looking forward to more mysteries to be solved! ( ≧ᗜ≦)
