EX rank supporting role’s replay in a prestigious school - Chapter 809
Time and experience.
But in PMH, even if a lot of time passed, Sung Gukeon’s opinion didn’t change.
I think it’s the experience that truly changed his mind, and at the center of it is Kim Shinrok.
Perhaps it’s right to say that Kim Shinrok changed Sung Gukeon.
“Haha! You look like you’re thinking about something else. You must’ve had a difficult time with the Tiger Clan.”
“It’s not that his hard work isn’t worth it. Things have gotten a lot better with him.”
Hwang JIho spoke with an old man tone.
I’ve indeed been working hard with the Tiger Clan last year, but why is he making me into some sort of workaholic?
The two continued to speak, not giving me a chance to step in.
“I know you as Hwang Jiho, a classmate of Jo Euishin, but you’re probably part of the Tiger Clan.”
“Have you not noticed? Hwang Yuho and Hwang Myeongho, and all the others are yours truly.”
Hwang Jiho suddenly revealed that he is the mythical Hwangho from the mythical age.
I knew he’d reveal his identity to those two, but why did he have to say it like that?
‘I don’t think they’re surprised though.’
Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong must’ve done their research before coming here.
It’s an open secret that the Hwangmyeong Group and the Tiger Clan have a connection, and they seem to have initial suspicions about Hwang Myeongho and Hwang Yuho.
“Did you know it already? Your reaction is bland.”
“We knew about the central figure of the Tiger Clan.”
Sung Gukeon began to speak formally now that Hwang Jiho revealed his identity as a clan head, even though the latter was wearing a school uniform.
Although he kept his courtesy Sung Gukeon didn’t show any signs of intimidation or nervousness before the head of the Tiger Clan.
Seeing Sung Gukeon’s imposing attitude, Hwang Jiho spoke again.
“You are as good as ever. Your spirit doesn’t wane even in front of this body.”
“I don’t know about now, but the Chairman wasn’t a figure to be nervous about back in the day. No matter how sharp a tiger’s teeth and claws are, who would be afraid of something contained in a painting?”
“Hahaha! I can’t believe you brought that up. Well, I knew of your feisty ambition. If you didn’t have one, you wouldn’t have told me to resign or close the school in the past.”
“A tiger in a painting” seems to refer to Hwang Jiho’s negligent days.
Hwang Jiho didn’t respond no matter what fuss emerged in Eungwang High, so he was indeed like a tiger in a painting.
Sung Gukeon seems to still dislike Hwang Jiho and those days.
‘It can’t be helped. That time is Sung Gukeon’s experience. Even if he doesn’t mind being in the presence of a royal lineage anymore, what happened in the past will still remain in his mind.’
It’s not strange for the former Student Representative to react this way, especially since he experienced the days when the school Chairman didn’t care if his students got hurt.
Still, Sung Gukeon and Hwang Jiho seemed relatively civil.
Unlike Kim Shinrok, whose expression looks like he’s dying.
Concerned for the professor, Jeon Muyeong sent a small signal to Sung Gukeon, as if to tell him to take it easy.
Hwang Jiho stepped back first.
“Let me introduce myself officially. I am Hwangho, the head of the Tiger Clan. Those present here are my friends, Baekho and Jeokho. And… You must know these two.”
Hwang Jiho was referring to me and Kim Shinrok.
I bowed formally to them and them to me, but Kim Shinrok…
Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong stared at him for a long time.
“…I am a descendant. I use the name Kim Shinrok.”
He didn’t say anything more.
It’s amazing that he was able to introduce himself as a descendant to Sung Gukeon and as Kim Shinrok to his former student Jeon Muyeong.
But he didn’t say the most important thing.
Well, if he said “I am student Sung Gukeon’s homeroom teacher. I pretended to be human but I am of royal lineage. I faked the death of my previous identity, but I am actually well and alive,” it would be difficult to react.
As Kim Shinrok continued to remain silent, Hwang Jiho stepped in.
“Let’s end the greetings here. What do you think is the reason we called you here?”
A regretful expression was on Jeon Muyeong’s face for a moment, but Sung Gukeon didn’t show any emotion.
Sung Gukeon calmly answered.
“Isn’t it to ask for cooperation with what the Tiger Clan wants to do? You indirectly used Hwang Yuho to express the thoughts, values, and projects of the Tiger Clan.”
“You’re not wrong, but it’s something more specific.”
Hwang Jiho and Sung Gukeon easily showed their cards.
The two continued to talk skillfully, digging up the other person’s intentions and hidden agenda with their words.
Soon enough, the two shared the fact that they knew of the Black Screen that targeted Korea and that both were taking measures to stop them.
‘The purpose has been revealed, but we haven’t fully shared information with each other yet. It’s our first meeting though, so I guess it can’t be helped.’
Although opinions were exchanged about the Black Screen, there was information still undisclosed with each other.
I know I’m caught in the middle, but I can’t reveal things on my own, so I decided to wait and see.
But it was impossible to keep my mouth shut.
“Now that we know each other’s intentions, we have a suggestion.”
“Please go ahead.”
“Jo Euishin will say it. Go ahead, Jo Euishin.”
All eyes fell on me.
Sung Gukeon had a cold yet anticipating expression as if he knew that my turn would come.
“I knew you weren’t a regular player. I’m looking forward to what role you’re playing among the Tiger Clan.”
I have a connection with the Tiger Clan, but as for a role…
I’m here to show Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong the worst nightmare of their lives.
“Someone is coming after you, Sung Gukeon sunbaenim.”
“Haha! No politician can avoid having political opponents.”
Sung Gukeon lightly reassured me, making it sound like it was a simple worry.
“They will try to assassinate you soon. If we don’t do anything in advance, their attempt will succeed.”
When I said with conviction that the assassination would be successful, Jeon Muyeong looked shocked.
But Sung Gukeon just stared at me.
“I’m sure you’re not lying, Euishin. So you have something to suggest to avoid that assassination?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s hear it.”
Despite hearing of an assassination attempt against him, Sung Gukeon remained calm, which is expected of a great man.
Perhaps I’m even more worried about it than him.
“I have an ability called Replay. If conditions are met, I can show you through a dream the result of a simulation of certain situations.”
“You want to find out what happened with the assassination through that ability.”
I replaced several words since I can’t talk about PMH.
That game is also a simulation, so my words aren’t lies.
Even though I explained it quite abstractly, Sung Gukeon responded that he understood exactly what I meant.
“I’m not sure how long it will take, but it will be done before the weekend ends.”
I set aside enough time for the Replay.
Since its functional level has risen, there’s a possibility that it will take less time than it did with Jeokho, but I still couldn’t guess how long it would take since Sung Gukeon lived for six months longer than Jeokho.
“Am I the only one who will get Replay?”
“I want Jeon Muyeong sunbaenim to go through it as well. There will be scenarios where you two will act separately.”
“So I’m not the only one being targeted. Got it.”
Yong Jegun was the last victim of Replay.
At that time, Replay was at functional stage 3.
Afterward, when I acquired the Glare of Life and Death from the bridle of reincarnation and used the energy wave link between descendants, my dimensional understanding increased along with Replay’s functional stage.
In other words, the function is up two notches from the last time it was used.
That means I have more choices on who I can use it on.
I can give nightmares to more people.
“So both of us will be asleep? I think one of us should be awake, just in case.”
“Doing it simultaneously would save time.”
“So why don’t we call in another secretary to…”
“The Tiger Clan called me and you.”
Although Jeon Muyeong expressed disapproval, Sung Gukeon seemed to want to do it together.
Sung Gukeon persuaded him.
“That Replay function sounds like a prophetic thing. They showed us their cards even though it wasn’t easy to disclose. Shouldn’t we reciprocate the trust they showed?”
“That’s true, but…”
“Do you think Euishin or the professor would hurt us?”
“Not at all.”
Jeon Muyeong didn’t refute after that.
What on earth did Kim Shinrok do for his students to have so much faith in him?
Well, even Ahn Dain showed the same level of trust, so he must be an excellent teacher.
“I thought Professor Yong Jegun would be here too.”
“Should I call him? Yong Jegun is wandering around Eungwang District as if he noticed that something is happening. He’ll come if I call.”
“You don’t have to. I guess Professor Yong Jegun knows about Replay too.”
“Yong Jegun saw it himself. He woke up and had a very interesting reaction.”
We talked of Yong Jegun as Sung Gukeon settled in the recliner and Hwang Jiho prepared the incense burner.
“Teacher’s Day will be celebrated twice in the Replay. The first one will be safe, but the second will be dangerous for the both of you.”
“Got it. I’ll remember that.”
Even if he tries, he won’t be able to remember that in this nightmare.
Jeokho, Kim Shinrok, and Yong Jegun all forgot and became beings in that world of nightmare.
Even if Kim Shinrok went through it twice.
I swallowed my words, knowing that saying anything wouldn’t help them anyway.
<Selection completed.>
I chose the two people on the menu and nodded at Hwang Jiho.
Hwang Jiho lifted the golden incense burner.
“Let’s begin.”
Hwiii…!
When Hwang Jiho used his energy waves, the scent of sleep wrapped around Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong.
As his students headed into that evil nightmare, Kim Shinrok looked more and more nervous.
Just before he fell asleep, Sung Gukeon spoke to Kim Shinrok.
“I’ll be back, professor.”
Sung Gukeon’s voice sounded weaker than usual as he was about to fall asleep.
Hearing that voice, Kim Shinrok closed his eyes tightly.
* * *
Most people in their 30s look back to their high school days with melancholic joy.
Adults miss the past when worries weren’t that heavy and they were still under their families and schools, as opposed to the burdens of adulthood.
But as for Sung Gukeon, he fully accepted what he had to go through as an adult and didn’t look at his school days with glorifying lenses.
That’s why he didn’t miss his school days that much
However, he sometimes thinks of his professor, one of the few good memories he had in high school.
The professor was even more unforgettable since he died as soon as Sung Gukeon graduated, and he was stripped of any chance to return his teacher’s grace.
Then, one day.
“Congressman, I am going to pay my respects.”
Jeon Muyeong said so with fiery eyes.
Kim Shinrok, a beloved professor of Jeon Muyeong, died during Eungwang High’s admission practical test.

Thanks for the chapter.
I could hear the BGM’s intensifying tension. but what’s the appropriate BGM for this… “event”, I wonder…
A tiger in a painting, huh… it’s not demeaning enough for Hwangho of that time, I think. But, I wonder if there was a fitting moniker for him that would make him “moved” enough.
For… Hwangho was pretty adept in pretending to be deaf and mute.
And the opening scene for their replay was that?? it’s too much

Thanks for the update! A bit of a dance, between Gukeon and Jiho. They’re both a bit headstrong. Gukeon didn’t hesitate to call him out. Though, for some reason, I can’t think of much to say… I suppose I used up all my words yesterday. I’m very much looking forward to seeing this continue. I wonder how many chapters their replay will be? Especially since it’s two in one.

Thank you Ms. Translator, for the chapter. ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
Ah, very unfortunate. Given Professor Shinrok’s convoluted past and many names, it is true that he finds it difficult to say anything more than introducing himself.
The next upcoming chapters will be a nightmare, told from two different points of view at the same time! o(≧∀≦)o
Nice chapter as always! and looking forward for more! ヾ(〃’▽’〃)ノ
