EX rank supporting role’s replay in a prestigious school - Chapter 808
Midnight after April Fool’s Day.
While the tigers were gathered to retrieve the rides used in the school, Kim Shinrok said that he’d speak with Sung Gukeon.
‘Sung Gukeon would welcome it for sure. He’ll make time even if he’s busy.’
Sung Gukeon is very generous, he’d give Kim Shinrok time even if he doesn’t have one.
Maybe this means I could use Replay on Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong by the weekend.
My heart felt heavy at the thought.
‘I don’t think it’s right to have these thoughts about the people that I’m urging.’
I forced myself to pull it together and check the Replay function throughout the night, so I couldn’t sleep well.
In the morning, the students of Eungwang High had to face the reality that they set aside for a while on April 1st.
The midterm examination period was approaching and the students looked half-dead amid the beautiful cherry blossoms.
“I wish I could magic my way with the midterm exams too.”
Maeng Hyodon murmured as he looked at the place where the attractions were yesterday.
He must’ve sat down and studied all night as he looked more tired than when he trained with Tak Geosan.
Unfortunately, the midterm exams are a reality that can’t be tricked.
“Hang in there. Let’s all go on a picnic after the exam!”
“Y-yeah…”
A little energized by Kim Yuri’s words of encouragement, Maeng Hyodon dived his nose back to his math equations again.
Although Kim Yuri’s cheer helped a little, it looked like his heart was dizzy.
I don’t think he can solve math problems like this.
Unlike the crisis-ridden Maeng Hyodon, the kids who were relaxed about the exams had their ears perk up at the mention of a picnic.
“I heard about the spring picnic from Grandpa Song last year. I heard it was really fun and everyone was having a good time so I really wanted to go…! It would be more fun with fourteen kids, right?”
“…Will the two kids come to the picnic?”
“It would be nice if they do. You should go, of course, Daesok-ah.”
“Of course I will!”
Song Daesok had a moment of hesitation, seemingly an attempt to reel in his words and not refer to the kids as “attention seekers.”
He’s grown quite a lot, considering how brutal his mouth was before.
Meanwhile, some kids couldn’t afford to talk about picnics.
Jin Jungmok, who took an advanced calligraphy course but couldn’t memorize even the basic ones, was one of them.
“It’s gonna be easier to memorize if you understand the principle behind every character.”
“Please, teach me.”
Hani, who said she was confident with the subject, took charge of helping Jin Jungmok.
The guy expressed sincere gratitude and said he’d do something in return.
After much thought, Hani decided to ask him for a battle after the exams.
It will be hard for Hani to win since Jin Jungmok almost beat Kwak Gyungu.
‘Jin Jungmok is using a sword right now, but he’ll probably do well in bare-handed fights too.’
Jin Jungmok asked Joo Soohyuk, a dual sword technique master, for a duel.
He even challenged Joo Soohyuk’s homeroom teacher last year, Noh Youngmi.
Noh Youngmi is great at bare-handed fights, so even against Jin Jungmok’s swords, she overpowered him.
It ended in a draw since the battle was held during a short break, but it was a shame that it ended so abruptly.
‘Many students joined the Taehokwon small group thanks to Eunho, so Hani has had a lot of opportunities to fight with others and be more confident. A battle with Jin Jungmok after the exams would help too.’
When I made a mental note to watch the battle, the two self-proclaimed best friends of Hani interrupted.
“Hani-yah, I just memorized those as they are.”
“Hahahaha! No need for yours truly to memorize. I’ve already mastered it!”
…So what?
The two bickered while Hani and Jin Jungmok studied, thinking that they were helping when they were not.
Anyway, despite another kid being added to the danger list in our class, this side was very peaceful.
“Since Jungmok is coming this time, it’ll be fourteen of us. That’s a lot of people.”
“The number increases if we include the homeroom teacher. I’m looking forward to it.”
“Yeah! It’ll be fun going on a picnic together. I’ll study hard so I don’t have to take extra tests.”
Kwon Lena felt sorry since Mok Wooram was helping her a lot, but she accepted his help and thought it was better than taking make-up exams later on.
She said she’d play Kwon Jein’s new song on her violin for Mok Wooram as thanks.
It’s a surprise from Kwon Lena, but the guy might faint mid-song if that happens.
Nevertheless, I’m sure Mok Wooram would be happy so I decided not to meddle.
‘Everyone’s helping each other well so I don’t need to do much. Except for Maeng Hyodon’s math subject.’
I looked around the classroom and then at the questionnaire that Maeng Hyodon was holding.
He’s been stuck on the same problem for quite a while now.
I talked to Maeng Hyodon, whose head and hands were still stiff.
“You’re at the same problem. Where’d you get stuck?”
“…The part where it tells me to rotate the exponential function graph. I kept turning it, but it came out weird.”
“This graph should rotate at the origin symmetrically, not based on the x-axis.”
With a quick “Ah!” Maeng Hyodon solved the problem.
I guess he feels that his efforts were futile.
Everyone gets stuck in ridiculous parts when solving math problems.
‘He understood my explanation quickly so I’m sure he’s been listening really well during class.’
He’ll have to be careful not to fail, but I don’t think he’s as bad as before.
Our class seemed to be able to get through this midterm, but there was another kid that I had to worry about.
[Jang Namwook] Sanghoon-ah, one of the kids in our school got chosen as a beta tester for the game you mentioned last time. You played basketball with him in the past, but I don’t know if you remember him.
[Jang Namwook] He said he met a user who looked like you.
Yoo Sanghoon didn’t respond to Jang Namwook’s message.
Before he could reply anything, Jang Namwook’s long messages poured out.
[Jang Namwook] He plays for long hours every day, and he said he thought he heard your name being announced as one of the top rankers on the server.
[Jang Namwook] I checked the time that the servers have ranked games, and it was shocking.
[Jang Namwook] Counting the hours you spend at school and playing basketball, it means you only sleep three to four hours a day because of your gaming.
Yoo Sanghoon is that hooked to this game?
There’s no way to confirm if it was really Yoo Sanghoon who the cadet played with, but it seems right.
That game can’t be bribed away with in-game purchases, so time and skill were greatly important to excel.
I knew Yoo Sanghoon was good at games, but I didn’t expect him to be that good.
[Jang Namwook] The beta test period will be over soon, but Eungwang High’s midterm exam is coming up. This is an important time, so I think it’s best to reduce your gaming time and study.
[Yoo Sanghoon] K.
Yoo Sanghoon answered with no sincerity.
If he wasn’t the top ranker, he would’ve answered “nah” instead.
I guess it’s really that bastard.
‘He’s spending that much time on the beta test. Won’t he get too addicted when the game comes out?’
That great game became so popular that professional leagues formed and it became the top game in e-sports.
It doesn’t stop players from entering professional leagues, so it’s the first game that lets players become professional gamers.
I’m starting to think that Yoo Sanghoon would take that path.
‘Yoo Sanghoon likes basketball, but I don’t think he can play professionally. But he can be a pro gamer.’
I had a lot of thoughts, but I hope Yoo Sanghoon doesn’t fall in too much.
I hope he graduates from Eungwang High.
There’s that terrible worry ahead of the midterms, but I also had concerns about things outside school.
‘I haven’t heard from Joo Soogyeom yet. It might take a long time.’
The attack on the law firm last month is starting to be forgotten by the public.
In this society, accidents like that break out almost every day.
But that law firm isn’t involved in energy skills and the like, and many of its lawyers resigned because they’re afraid that they’d be attacked again.
As a result, the cases that they had were transferred to other places in coordination with their clients.
‘And it unexpectedly benefited my playable character.’
Surprisingly, most of their work went to the law firm run by my playable character.
The cause of the raid isn’t understood yet, so other law firms have been reluctant to take up their cases.
As a result, most of the cases have been transferred to less skilled lawyers and player lawyers who can protect themselves.
Their clients may have also decided that it would be better to select a physically strong lawyer who wouldn’t get easily injured.
‘They didn’t have a lot of work until now, so I guess it turned out okay.’
I’m a little worried that someone trying to cover up the Oh Family’s contract might attack my playable character, but I know they can cope.
‘I’m going to make sure that my playable character doesn’t have to deal with unfair laws on players instead.’
Preventing Sung Gukeon’s death will be the first step.
* * *
The first weekend of April, at the top floor of the Hwangmyeong Towe, the only skyscraper in Eungwang District.
I came here instead of studying with the dormitory kids.
Despite my worries for Maeng Hyodon, I decided to prioritize this one.
“They’re here.”
At exactly the promised time, Hwang Jiho looked at the door and said so.
When the door opened without a sound, Sung Gukeon and Jeon Muyeong appeared.
The two spotted me among the tigers, their eyes opening a little wider than usual before settling into a convinced expression.
Hwang Jiho invited them as someone from the Tiger Clan, so I’m sure it’s shocking to see me here.
But I think they understood.
“You’re here too, Euishin-ah.”
Sung Gukeon talked to me immediately.
“I trusted you because I thought you had nothing to do with the royal lineage, Euishin-ah.”
“Does this mean you can’t trust me now?”
I thought Sung Gukeon would say yes or at least cover up his words.
But he shook his head.
“No.”
Sung Gukeon looked at the tigers watching, his eyes stopping on Kim Shinrok.
“Thoughts can change with time and experience.”

Thanks for the update! I’m looking forward to seeing how they react, seeing truly how much Euishin has done for this world. But, I must exercise patience. It’s gonna be a long weekend. But that’s good too, more time to enjoy myself. Well, perceived time anyways. The long wait and time flying by will cancel eachother out, or whatever. I’m talking silly. Anyways, this is an interesting direction for Sanghoon. I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. Will Euishin play much, when it releases? He was a hardcore stagnant water gamer for PMH, after all. But he’s a million times more busy now. This has got me hyped up for the game, though. I want to see how something like that is handled by the author. Will it actually have plot importance? It would be nice if Euishin could play a little bit. He deserves some fun time.

thanks for the chapter.
I won’t meddle with that math question. No. No way I’m gonna poke that hornet nest again. But, I hope he can use (cherry) magic to brush away the (springtime) math exam.
as for, Sanghoon… well, he’s me when I was in highschool indeed, staying up until early morning everyday to play games, however I’m no way that skillful in playing games tho.
I’ll put let’s wait and see stance for mr.Sung case tho…
