- Chapter 799 - A new Class 1-0 (10)
When the go signal rang, Yoon Yeorang actualized the R-rank weapon item card provided by the school.
Yoon Yeorang’s battle skills are mainly through crossbow techniques.
In reality, Yoon Yeorang wanted to use a traditional bow and arrow with her ritual skill.
However, to carry and pull a huge bow, she would need more arm strength than she thought.
I had a hard time seeing if her skills would improve well.
Needless to say, a giant weapon during a fight doesn’t quite fit Yoon Yeorang well.
Nevertheless, she didn’t give up using a bow and arrow, so as a compromise, she began using a crossbow.
‘A crossbow used to launch a ritual arrow. It seems odd to think about, but it works anyway.’
Yoon Yeorang stepped back with her crossbow and widened the distance before aiming at Eunho to keep him in check.
Eunho took out a few item cards, but he looked relaxed compared to his opponent.
“Why isn’t he taking out a weapon?”
“He might have some skills related to nature like fire, water, or wind. Or maybe his specialty is bare-handed combat.”
“He’s got no support or protectors though. Nature skill users could fight without a supporter since those are expensive, but shouldn’t he use some protective equipment given by the school?”
“Our school has a lot of money so I guess they’d give out supporters if requested.”
“Hey, freshman top student! I put my bet on you! Stop playing!”
The freshmen talked about Eunho, who still wasn’t carrying any weapon.
Instead, he pulled out a toolset for making items.
His skill in making weapons is exquisite, but the killing power of that skill is close to zero.
Before the battle started, the freshmen bet on snacks to see who would be the class president, and the bets on Eunho weren’t too bad.
I think the kids who bet on Eunho are grabbing their necks by now.
Hwang Jiho’s eyes sparkled at the news of bets, but I stopped him from buying snacks far beyond the cost that high school students can afford.
Dak! Chak!
Yoon Yeorang kept her distance and stopped far away.
Due to the nature of her weapon, she decided to keep her distance since she’s vulnerable when she’s aiming.
Eunho followed Yoon Yeorang with his eyes, but did nothing but substantiate some item-making materials.
Low-rarity materials, believed to have been provided by the school, were spread out around Eunho.
“Hm, I don’t know what you’re making, but I’ll still fight!”
Yoon Yeorang also seemed bothered by Eunho’s strange behavior, but she chose to keep fighting.
She moved the tip of her crossbow, aiming directly at Eunho’s hand which held an item card.
Gong Cheonghwon was keeping a close watch with a steady energy wave, standing closely by in case the arrow would reach Eunho’s vital point.
The troubled freshmen stood up and screamed at Eunho, afraid that betting on Cheon Eunha was the wrong choice.
“Do something! Show it to her!”
“Don’t tell me the best student’s gonna be eliminated in round one! Don’t!”
Among the people who rooted for Cheon Eunha, Cheon Dongha was the only one who watched calmly.
Cheon Dongha’s eyes were filled with energy waves as he activated his Seer skill.
He stayed in his seat, not looking even a little bit anxious.
Trusting his dongsaeng with much confidence like this makes him a great hyung.
Fwik!
An arrow was launched from the crossbow.
Yoon Yeorang’s crossbow skill level wasn’t high, but it was easy enough to hit an unmoving target.
When the arrow was launched, Eunho moved for the first time.
Fwaaat!
Suddenly, a huge net spawned in front of Eunho.
No, “spawned” is not the correct word, because Eunho made it.
At the same time as the arrow was launched, Eunho used energy waves to float the materials lined up on the floor into the air.
And in that brief moment, he used his hand to create a net.
It was a quick and delicate movement, visible only to those with competent eyes.
Hwiik!
Eunho spun around his energy waves as if creating a vortex.
The arrow swallowed by the silver-colored net lost its power.
“Woah! How did he do that? I don’t think that’s an item given by the school!”
“He had limited cards available at first, but maybe he was hiding one and he actualized it? Or isn’t it energy waves?”
“No, that kid made it on the spot.”
“Ohh, he’s not just fast, but his movements are sophisticated too. I can’t make anything like that even if I took my time.”
There were a few kids among the freshmen who were able to keep up with Eunho’s movements.
As if she recognized it too, Yoon Yeorang looked surprised.
She was purely impressed by Eunho’s skills, and her face remained bright.
As the wiggling net stopped moving, Eunho spoke with a mild face.
“Crossbows are preloaded, so it’s tricky to block the first shot. But when that first shot is over, it’s much easier.”
Eunho moved before Yoon Yeorang finished loading her bow.
His pace was gentle, slow enough to be visible to everyone, but it was shrewd and caught us off guard.
Instead of plain walking, he was using martial arts.
“I think I’ve seen that step before…”
“It’s my first time seeing it.”
“I know it. It’s a Taehokwon technique!”
Eunho was using Taehokwon with his movements.
I know that he knows Taehokwon, but I wonder if he learned it from Cheongho.
He has no protectors so people didn’t think he’d fight bare-handed.
Until this moment, people expected him to bring out a weapon from the item cards he was holding.
Maybe Yoon Yeorang thought so too, so she hurriedly stopped reloading and dodged with her body.
She accelerated and spread the distance, but Eunho’s movements were faster.
When she realized it, Yoon Yeorang stopped running away and prepared for close combat.
‘Players who use ranged weapons always assume the possibility of close combat, so they always train for that.’
However, Yoon Yeorang’s close combat skills aren’t that good, and it’s questionable whether she can beat a tiger using Taehokwon.
As soon as I thought the victory was tilted, Hwang Jiho said,
“There are a lot of restrictions in using Taehokwon, but it’s very Eunho-like to choose that one.”
“Restrictions?”
“It’s been a long time since he used it so his body isn’t following him completely, and more than anything, it doesn’t match Eunho’s framework.”
I understood the former, but the latter didn’t make any sense.
How could he learn Taehokwon if it doesn’t match him?
Hwang Jiho answered the question in my head.
“It’s possible to learn Taehokwon even so. In other words… People can learn instruments even if they’re not good at playing. Just as it’s possible to replicate a sound, it’s possible to replicate movements. Something like that.”
Hwang Jiho looked at me with pitying eyes when he mentioned playing instruments.
I don’t know why he did that, but I can see what Hwang Jiho meant.
Even if it’s impossible for a person who isn’t attuned to playing the piano to perform a piece perfectly, they could look at a musical score and press the notes indicated there.
It wouldn’t sound as great as a professional, but the piano will make a sound anyway.
That must be what it’s like for Eunho.
Then, the tide of the battle tilted.
“Ah!”
While she was looking for a gap, Yoon Yeorang was pushed back by Eunho’s fist which she blocked with her crossbow.
Then, one foot of hers got caught in the net.
She tried regaining her balance, but her defensive stance collapsed.
Eunho took advantage of the gap and raised his finger right up to Yoon Yeorang’s thyroid without pushing it.
Eunho literally stopped his finger right in front, but Gong Cheonghwon hastily intervened and declared.
“Stop.”
Jiiing.
The surroundings turned quiet in an instant from the energy waves in Gong Cheonghown’s voice.
He used the Spiritual Word skill.
Eunho was bare-handed and just held a finger close to her neck, but Gong Cheonghwon’s judgment didn’t underestimate him.
He spoke again, this time without using the skill.
“Student Cheon Eunha has won. Congratulations.”
The surroundings buzzed.
From the perspective of an inexperienced person, they might think that Yoon Yeorang can still fight.
But according to Hwang Jiho, the game was already decided at that moment.
“The technique that Eunho just used is called Tiger’s Footstep. It’s a technique that circulates forces from previous movements to attack an enemy’s neck with one’s fingertips, too fast for it to be seen.”
So there’s such a lethal skill.
If Gong Cheonghwon, a master of Taehokwon, saw the foreshadowing move, it’s understandable why he rushed to use the Spiritual Word to intervene.
“Taehokwon used energy waves inwardly. In other words, it can catch opponents off guard because energy waves aren’t shown. If this was a real battle, the neck of the opponent would’ve been penetrated.”
Taehokwon doesn’t match Eunho’s frame, yet he can use that kind of technique?
Hwang Jiho nodded as if he read my mind.
“He wouldn’t have been able to use it if it wasn’t for Yoon Yeorang’s foot. Eunho was more vulnerable before that happened.”
As some spectators protested, Gong Cheonghwon explained and demonstrated Taehokwon’s Tiger’s Footstep.
Gong Cheonghwon used the same movements as Eunho and showed what it would result if not stopped.
When they saw it, the protesting crowd stopped talking and instead lauded Yoon Yeorang.
Against such a lethal technique, she was still so lively despite losing.
Gong Cheonghwon asked Eunho.
“You’ve learned it well. I don’t think your body is well-suited for Taehokwon. Would you be okay?”
“Taehokwon is a technique that can be practiced. Even if it doesn’t suit my body, I want to use it as my fighting style.”
Eunho spoke softly.
The moment I heard it, I realized Eunho’s intention.
He was trying to gather new students to learn Taehokwon.
Before the club membership period began, Eunho introduced Taehokwon, and its master Gong Cheonghwon, in an event where new students gathered to watch.
This will be more effective than Hwang Jiho’s plan which uses his monetary power.
‘And Eunho learned this much even though Taehokwon doesn’t match his body. Any freshman who’s impressed and inspired would want to learn it, even if they don’t have the right frame.”
Looking at the freshmen’s attitude, some of them were already interested.
At this rate, the Taehokwon small group would avoid abolition.
I’m relieved that Gong Cheonghwon and Hani’s troubles could be eased.
Before Eunho headed to the waiting room, Gong Cheonghwon spoke to him again.
“It must’ve not been easy to learn Taehokwon, but you were amazing at it. I’ve never seen anyone use it with such ease even though their frame doesn’t match.”
“I was taught by a great teacher.”
Eunho spoke with a gentle smile.
A great teacher indeed.
Eunho’s teacher, the master and founder of Taehokwon, was Gong Cheonghwon’s close friend.

thanks for the chapter.
see? an irregular schedule indeed.
oh well.
moving on.
Jiho and his penchant for fun bets (err… snacks??) thankfully Euishin stopped him.
Jiho and his veiled mocking of Euishin’s musicality… hahaha
Actually, I did want to see Yeorang fight using double ceremonial fans, but yeah… she’s still a newb.
And Eunho executed several “moves” with one move. Scary indeed

Thanks for the chapter, Ms. Translator! \(★∀★)/
The better Eunho displays his abilities, the more apparent it becomes that his demise is better for The Black Screen.
Nice chapter as always, and looking forward for more! ♡\(♡°▽°♡)/♡✧

Thanks for the update! A lot of fun new information. Seeing how they fight are really interesting. Making things on the spot, wow, isn’t that just showing off? Eunho might not be combat orientated, but his skills are no joke. Won’t that draw too much attention? Cause even with Eungwang high being filled with prodigies, making something that fast.. I just can’t see it as human. Oh well. I didn’t expect Yeorangs weapon of choice to be a bow. Crossbow, even. It’s fun seeing unique weapons. Anyways, Eunho is very smart. To take advantage of this opportunity to promote Taehokwon…
